Although this might be the cheesiest and most girly review I have ever done, don't worry, because I believe it's all worth it. The main reason why "Carry On" wins a special spot in my heart is because of a homosexual relationship that the two main characters, Simon and Baz, maintain throughout the story (and even before they realize it). Maybe it impacts me so much because it is the first book that I read with a gay ship, but then I am fortunate; I don't think I could have chosen a better one to start of with.

Baz and Simon are described as two sworn enemies with an endless belligerence. However, this blurb is the most misleading thing in the world. As it turns out, Baz is a vampire who views Simon, aka his roommate as an attractive and tempting person. A bit too much for it to keep being simple friendship though. Deep inside him, envy, seducement, and grief get mixed up so quickly that Baz starts having troubles distinguishing between them.

The character of Baz is the best aspect that this book can offer.

He is so complex. Rugged prat at times, but sensitiveness isn't new to him either. After all, he is only human who gets lost because of lack of parental support. Bez loses his mom who fought for little kids in the school's kindergarten that Bez used to attend to. It is interesting to observe how much is being stolen from him in this moment. It's almost as if his life had been reduced to the simplicity of being only himself. Simon is someone who causes an even greater mess in Baz's head, but he doesn't give up, doesn't let himself be carried by selfish brooks of destiny. Confronting it seems like a much more suitable option for this protagonist, and so the oven starts to burst.

This is one of those that I feel embarrassed, but I really have to get over myself. Genuinely enjoyed this riff on Harry Potter with a fun magic system. Would also highly recommend the audiobook version as the narrator does a fantastic job. Definitely a book I can re-read just for a good time.

This was charming and cute. It wasn't perfect, but it was such a fast read it didn't matter that much. Worth picking up if you're a Harry Potter fan, I think.

I don’t think so.

So my friend convinced me to read this book after she read it and I am now obsessed with it. The first 100ish pages are super slow and info-dumpy but as soon as Baz shows up the story takes off. I am absolutely obsessed with Baz. The enemies to lovers in this book are amazing. I love Simon and Baz together so much. The plot to me was so interesting even though I guessed the plot twist at the end with the Mage. I really enjoyed the friendships in this book even though I am not the biggest fan of Agatha. I even hate her name. This book is like harry potter but with gayness and vampires and I am obsessed with it.
