According to FTC guidelines, I must state that I won a galley of this book through the Goodreads First Reads program.
Unfortunately, this book is not for me because it is boring me to sleep. Perhaps a full review is to come.

I'm not going to write a full review on this one, but hooo boyyyy. Heavy and powerful, that's Boo, and I'm a little weepy. Real glad this book was recommended to me, and I'd recommend it to anyone. Read with care, though. This book is dark and deals with heavy topics: suicide, school shootings, murder, afterlife, self harm, violence and vigilante justice.
May Johnny and Boo's blendship live on forever.

OMG, this was an amazing trip. I didn't read the blurb as usual and didn't know what I was getting myself into, and this had me guessing about the characters and the events all the time. And that was so good. When twists and turns were foreshadowed I thought "ah, yes this is where it is going" and then we got there and I was clueless again. Loved it.
Also the narration is really well done, you only get Boo's point of view and you have to rely on his knowledge and understanding of events and it is fascinating how you get to know him better and thus can judge his narration better as the story progresses.
And the setting of the novel is really well crafted and challenging stereotypical beliefs.
Listening to the audiobook was pure joy as well, as the narrator does a really good job.
Have you noticed that I didn't elaborate on what is going on and on the characters? It's because I don't want to spoil the fun of discovering them on your own.

This story will stay with me for a long time to come. It was unlike any I have read before. Neil Smith expertly manages to combine humor and lightness with the dark tones of bullying, harassment and mental illness that children are often subject to, the signs of which that almost go unnoticed leading to catastrophic consequences. Though it was easy to predict the climax of the plot, the build up to it was thrilling despite being medium-paced. I can't stop thinking about Boo and his resilience. 5/5 honestly. I would definitely buy this book and read it again.
Graphic: Suicide

I enjoyed this book, the mystery the innocence. And how much over time, even the oddest of people, can see an opportunity.

Ça m’a pris beaucoup de temps pour embarquer dans l’histoire, mais les 75-100 dernières pages sont phénoménales.

Very good read, the twist at the end is given to us by clues throughout the whole book. The whole book make you long for it because you know something is wrong with info given earlier, and it keeps getting weirder.
The thing that can make this read a bad time is that the protagonist is insufferable because of how much he values his intelligence, but he grows to appreciate other things.
It also makes sense that he was like this at the start given the end twist, he was very much still in the same mental state, hating people, thinking they're all stupid and below him... But heaven makes him like people and realise what he was missing on earth is friends, and being intelligent doesn't do everything.

Moderate: Self harm, Suicide, Violence, Mass/school shootings, and Schizophrenia/Psychosis
