Listening to these was really interesting, although the narrator pauses at weird points.
I heard some I'd never heard of before.
My favorite was "Princess of Light"

Rather poor, tedious versions of famous fairy tales. It was an okay read, but there are much better versions and collections than this one.

It's always nice to re-read the classic childrens stories!
My only complaint is that it wasn't longer.

A collection of short stories, some of them I wasn't sure of and wondered why they were in there? Like the second story of Sinbad the sailor - surely that's better to read in the context of the Sinbad stories? Nevertheless I really enjoyed these stories. Some of them I remember from childhood and it's nice that these are more like the originals in that Red Riding Hood gets eaten and not rescued - goldilocks is actually Silverhair etc.

I would have replaced some of the stories or changed the order but I still enjoyed reading these classic fairy tales.

I listened to the audiobook, and I didn't enjoy it at all. The narrator's voice annoyed me, but if I could get past that, the stories were rather monotonous. Everyone is wicked and will kill their children/ siblings/ parents, except one kind hearted girl who always marries the prince.

I think this should be called fairy tales every child should know once they've grown up.
Some of the stories may want vetting for younger children.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed this book I would stick to the modernised fairy tale versions.
It is fascinating to see where some of the stories stemmed from and how they have been altered.

A great read, full of stories that every child should know. Reading this reminded me of all day f the stories I used to and has reawakened my love of fairy tales

I enjoyed recognising some stories I must have heard or read when I was young that I'd completely forgotten about. The writing isn't great (all tell and no show), the characters all behave completely bizarrely, violence and sexism are rife, and the morals are questionable at best - but it's all strangely charming anyway. A worthwhile free classic.

It is great to read some of the original tales behind many of the stories we see brought to life in more modern formats or visualizations. However it does take a bit to read some of the less action-packed blocks of text after being used to a bit more going on in your fairy tales!
