the humor, feminism, illustrations, & terminal illness rep are great. everything else bored me to tears. I'll still read several more books by this author though!

Her writing is SO lovely and always captures the beauty of sisterhood so much that I find in myself more love for women, including myself, every time I read her words.

“It’s one thing to read about dark enchantments and fairy curses; it’s quite another to watch them take hold of a woman’s will and march her like a porcelain puppet toward her own doom.”

Yes. All the yesses.

I think I can add Alix E Harrow to my fave author list now. And you're telling me the next retelling is about Snow White?!?! That gets me even more excited

Content warning: offscreen sexual assault (and discussion of the impact on character's lives), abortion mention, drug use mention

An original take on fairy tales, their characters, and their structures. I was slightly disappointed that the protagonist didn't end up with a princess herself, but there's plenty of time for that in the future! Usually I don't like open endings on novellas but it worked quite well here.

Thank you to NetGalley for a preview audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review.
