I'm quite enjoying this series. Fleshing it out into mysteries in the west has only solidified my enjoyment. The characters are a nice group and one can easily see how it could work as a series of movies in the late '50s/early '60s.

I haven't read a lot of westerns that weren't comics. I wasn't sure what I expected from this novel. What I got was pulpy mystery set in the West with a Sheriff that is on the level of Jonah Hex as a gunslinger. Really enjoyed this one.
