With a cast or unlikable characters and a plot held together by a blade of vegetarian grass,  there is not much to root for in this book. We are constantly reminded why Oliver and Luc  don't work and never really told why they would.

Update 2022: literally incredible - i liked it even more the second time

4.3- it started off so shaky, but I genuinely loved it by the end. Impressive, well-written character development

Second read: yup it’s still fantastic and incredible at navigating complex characters AND got me out of a reading slump AGAIN

First read:
I'm still crying it's so good. Really got me out of a reading slump. However even though in my emotional wreckage this feels like a 5 star, I cognitively understand that some parts of the book were a bit long or overdone with the dialogue or I questioned certain scene directions. Therefore, I give it a 4.5. However, I think this book is fantastic and I love it. It feel very honest and heartfelt while also balancing comedy. I think Luc's struggled with his emotions and his character arc were wonderful. The way Oliver is described over time and how love is portrayed was unfolded and described so well. I felt like I had to earn it as a reader though because this one was a slow burn. One I could NOT stop thinking about.
