This is such a beautiful book! I was blown away by the illustrations, they are pure perfection. They were eye catching and almost had me in love with the book more than the actual myths!

I was so intrigued with all the different myths from all around the world. There were creatures and stories I already knew about but there were so many more that I was learning about for the first time and even though the stories and descriptions are short, you can learn all you need to know from them! Definitely a book I will be proud to have on my own bookshelves and also would adore a volume two! Even though this hasn't even been released yet!

Definitely a book that would be easy to read and attention keeping for younger readers!

I saw this book in my timeline some time last year and since I'm a huge fan of mythology, I had to have it.

Basically, the book is giving a nice overview of different mythological beasts from around the world. Thus, we get 5 chapters covering the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania.

Sadly, some noteable creatures are missing, but the book made up for it by including some less known ones from around the world.

The one true criticism I have is that this really only offers an overview. Sure, there are some creatures in here that people might not have heard about. It might, therefore, make them curious to check other sources. However, I would have wished for more text/info in this book.

As I said, the book's main goal, I think, is to give an overview in a beautifully illustrated way that gets people interested. And the illustrations were indeed nice. Certainly, they were very colorful:

Definitely cool for children or people not knowing where to begin regarding mythology / mythological creatures.

This book will keep children and adults busy for hours. The stories are fascinating and awaken the imagination. The images are beautiful and are the ultimate escapism.

If you want a piece of art and a book of masterpieces at your fingertips this is the book to choose!

This is a great encyclopedia of information about mythical creatures all across the world and from various different myths and legends. I had a great time reading this, the book was very informative and also highlighted some stories surrounding those mythical creatures and the illustrations were beautiful and vibrant.

What initially drew me to this book was the vibrant cover art and the fact that it had Myth written in the name. I am a huge, huge fan of reading different myths and legends from all over the world. So when I saw this book, I knew I needed to read it!

Throughout the entire book, there is nothing but gorgeous illustrations accompanying each and every myth. The books is divided into countries so the reader is able to identify where each myth originated from. The myth descriptions and stories themselves are by no means difficult to follow or too rich in text, so younger readers should be able to easily read and follow along. There are some challenging phrases and words that a younger reader may have difficulty with, but it shouldn't be too much of an issue, especially if a parent is reading alongside them.

Overall, this is definitely one book that I will be purchasing for my own shelf and can't recommend enough! I also think it would be interesting if one day the author created a corresponding coloring book, or even included a few coloring pages at the end.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary eARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes. I'd like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for providing me this opportunity!

Cover Art: 5/5 absolutely gorgeous!
Audience: Young readers; Fantasy readers.
Setting: The Earth.
Overall: 3.5

This GORGEOUS book explores historic mythical creatures through the globe. It provides cultural context (myths per location) and helps bolster a feeling of worldliness. Most of the creatures are described get a half page to tell their story with beautiful art surrounding them, while a few get a two-and-a-half page spread that dives a little bit deeper. I really enjoyed learning about and expanding my knowledge of creatures such as the Thunderbird from the Americas, Pegasus from Europe, Anubis from Africa, the Yeti from Asia and Tiddalik from Oceania. I would've loved to leaf through this book in a classroom during my school days - the art is absolutely captivating!

Encyclopedia about magical creatures??? I needed it. I love these kinds of books so much.
When I opened it, my mouth remained open. The book is full of beautiful illustrations.
There were a lot of mythical beasts in it, and I haven’t heard about most of them. Every beast has illustration so I could easily imagine them. There was also a lot of new information for me, and a lot of mythology, too. The truth is that I was bored in some places, I couldn’t concentrate on it completely. I’d rather put this book on a shelf and read it when having mood for it, not everything in one place.

My Hungarian version:
Enciklopédia mágikus lényekről??? Nekem kell. Imádom az ilyen fajta könyveket.
Amikor kinyitottam, eltátottam a szám.

This book is an introduction to a selection of mythological and fantastical beasts from different folklore from around the world. Grouped into continents you have the opportunity to learn more about the creatures and read some accompanying stories. I loved reading the classic tales of Fenrir and Cerberus that I know and love. I discovered so many new stories my favourites were The Birth of Pegasus and The Dragon Pearl.
