I had made assumptions about this book based on the title, and I avoided reading and purchasing this novel in verse. I wish I had read this book earlier so I could have shared it with my students, it's a worthwhile read!

I enjoyed this book so much more than I thought I would! I downloaded it thinking it would be a quick read (which it is if you read more than a page a day).

I will say, this book actually made me feel tthings. That hasn't happened in awhile when I read. No I didnt cry, but my heart ached and I really felt for the family.

The ending made me mad at first, simply because I wasn't aware there was a sequel. So to make it know: There is a sequel.

I found this book because it’s free on Audible right now. My only warning would be to have tissues near by! It’s a fantastic heart wrenching story! Loved it!

This one was an unexpected pleasure. The writing itself is not much to write home about and the main plotline has an also ran feel to it, but the characters really sell this book. That, and a willingness to take a major narrative risk with the ending. I really appreciate an author not hesitant to set everything up for the storybook ending only to flip the table at the 11th hour.
