This book offers a valuable exploration of the way in which a world of radical equality would have to function. Butler discusses an assortment of ideas through a seemingly arbitrary and limited set of sources: Freud, Fanon, Melanie Klein and Walter Benjamin all make an appearance. At times I thought it bordered on incoherence but it is ultimately a rewarding read. Some criticism could be levied at the extent to which Butler's ideas are realisable, but she is a champion of the idea that to change reality we must conjure up the unreal and with that I have to agree.
