You are either the part of the group of people who hate this book to their core or the part of the group of people who thinks this is the best book ever written. No in between. I'm part of the first group. Sorry.

I personally found this book horrible. It was poorly written; at points I had to go back to remind myself what was actually going on, and I found the main character to be a very self absorbed, annoying drama queen.

I have never in my life encountered a family like the one in this book, and I've come across a few "stuck up" families. I found the portrayal of this family very creepy, and frankly weird.

I do not recommend this book.

Maybe the big reveal about the deaths would have more impact if these characters had quite literally any real development first...

Maybe I'd care about this book if the prose weren't so. much. and the plot weren't so contrived and insubstantial...

Maybe if the main character STOPPED LITERALLY MAKING THE PEOPLE OF COLOR INTO ANIMALS IN HER CONVOLUTED FAIRYTALE METAPHORS and otherwise being completely obnoxious...

... but maybe not even then.
