I rated this 2 stars right after I finished, because I did like Yves and how unapologetic she was, but after sitting on it for a day, I’m not comfortable with even that small endorsement. The bdsm, which comes out of nowhere at the 67% mark, is dangerous. It’s not safe* - no discussions of risks, limits, or safe words before the first scene. Yves is not in an emotional place to engage in any relationship and especially not a sadomasochistic one. And the scene in the sex club is not consensual. She’s drunk, to start, even if you’re ok with a surprise voyeurism scene and public fingering. And the worst part is, the book knows it. Elijah knows Yves isn’t mentally good and advises her to see a rape counselor before they continue, but then it immediately falls into a HORRIBLY PROBLEMATIC bdsm trope: we don’t need professional help because bdsm is therapy.

It’s not.

Also the book compares kink to being LGBTQIA and I can’t.

*SSC is the acronym most people know but I have skipped the second “S” as it is falling out of favor in the community and rightly so. “Sane” is ableist and implies mentally ill people cannot consent or make good relationship decisions. Yves’ trauma and abuse do not mean that other trauma victims shouldn’t partake in the lifestyle.

Eve is so me in a way and do they sell that type of man on Amazon? This definitely reminds me of Zane novel from back in the day. I’m looking forward to the sequels of Lust Diaries.

- I really don’t know how I feel about this book, if I had to describe it in one word it would be abrupt.
- not to say I didn’t sort of like it because the second I finish writing this I’m picking up book #2.
- I think my main issue is that I wouldn’t say this was a Romance (or a satisfying Romance), the book was about Yves, not about Yves and Elijah.
- I’m saying this not having read book #2 yet but I think this book doesn’t stand on its own as a story.
- now Yves as a character is interesting, and it’s refreshing to see such a strong lead woman.
- and as much as I liked Elijah we really never get to see anything of substance about him. I mean, why does Yves even like him aside from him being nice to her and having a sinful mouth?
- The book still had elements I liked and that’s why I see a lot of potential for book #2  to deliver what this one missed.

This book was a ride. I'm gonna have to start the second one ASAP cause the MCs got together at the very end of this book and we didn't get much time with them together. I'm hoping in the second book we get to dive into their relationship more cause this book is more about hoe the FMC deals with getting out of a toxic relationship.
