Good story, good writing. But entirely too slow.

A slightly blasphemous , wholly engrossing mystery adventure that would give Indiana Jones a run for his money. I was captivated for the majority of the book.

There is a pretty major lull in the page-turner-ness of this book about 3/4 of the way through but the ending was satisfying enough to make up for it

I really tried to like this book, but somehow I just couldn't get into the story. I had read the first half without much enthusiasm, then took a 4 months long break, and only picked it back up because it was a gift from a friend and I felt guilty.
And I can't even put my finger on what it was. The characters are all likable and interesting. The concept actually sounded very cool in theory (it had a lot of good omens vibes, which I thought I'd love),  but something about the plot just didn't click for me at all. I don't know what it was, and I really tried getting into it, but I just wasn't invested in the story and formed no bond or attachment to the characters whatsoever.
