Wow wow wow. I’ve been debating my rating on this. All the way up until 75% I was considering a 4 star but once I hit that point I couldn’t look away. I do feel like my rating system is tainted since I did read the first half of the book before.
I do still think the first half is a little slow. It just doesn’t feel as high stakes as the second half does. However, the way the story comes together and plays out through the second half may be redeeming enough to consider it amazing through and through.
I love these characters and I love where this book brought the story. I’m so eager to keep reading the series and see where we end up. SJM does such a great job of writing the beauty of this world. I love the scenery I can create in my head and the aspect of art. I also love the family aspect both given and found. And I can’t give any spoilers but when the love comes out…it’s done so so well. I never finish a book and immediately am excited to reread it but once I make it through this series I’ll definitely do a reread so I can annotate and just enjoy the beauty of SJM’s writing.
