Great improvement from the first book. While the protagonist is still hard to deal with, the end of the book gets to where you want to be as a reader and this entry adds the actual fantasy elements I’ve been waiting for in the series. The new characters introduced make it a lot of fun and add a whole new layer of enjoyability.

I felt that this book was well written, the plot carried along very well, and was well paced. I thought the development of this book was great, and really pushed forward the series. I liked the development of the FMC throughout the book, how she went from one extreme, being frail and withered, to a dominating force to be reckoned with. It really showed how just some care and attention, letting her heal and come into herself was all she needed.
I really hate Tamlin, I cannot believe he locked her up and buried her in the background of life. I hated that he didn't seem to care about her PTSD, her illness when she'd get sick in the bathroom, her grief, and panic. He never extended his hand to her in assistance or showing he ever cared. It was very aggravating and angering that he didn't care about Fayre, just his own agenda.

I really liked how Rhys came into play with this aspect above. I really liked that he was willing to swoop in and assist in helping Fayre. I really liked that he was actually concerned about how withered and withdrawn she looked, that he was enraged on her behalf. I liked that he pushed her to an extent, and let her have her feelings and grief, assisting her in her PTSD and panic, and didn't let her hide. I think he was a perfect match for her that way.

I liked how well Fayre came into herself, a force to be reckoned with, not letting anyone snake past her, hurt her or her new found family. I liked that she protected her bond with Rhys and let him in. I also feel so heartbroken that she had to play the role she did at the end of the book with the King, and that she ended up back with Tamlin, even if it's to destroy him from the inside out.

The start of this book may be difficult to read, as the main character feels broken. Stick with it. It is an incredible book. Unanticipated twists. Dark. Sexy.

I found the book interesting in places. The description could be a bit much and a little over the top, especially when it is supposed to be a fast-paced scene, like a battle. I would much rather be pulled into an action scene, not thrown out because it was over descriptive.

At times, Feyre pissed me off. The attack on Velaris was just one of those times. Her downfall is to not act in the moment, but to wait and take in the scene while deciding what she is going to do, she knows that she wants to help, but yet still doesn't move. I found myself screaming during the attack on Velaris: "Feyre, you have the power of seven high lords. Do something."

The book made me want to throw it multiple times, and most of those times were because of Feyre's ineptitude. What is the point in her having all these powers if she's not using them?

10x better than acotar although some of the writing style remains as irksome as the first.

If the series hadn’t already been spoiled for me I would have simply DIED at the plot twists. Also love the world expansion.
