First Time Reading
IM READING IT AGAIN. NO. WORDS. Rhys>>>>>

Second Time Reading
I'm going to go buy it and ACOWAR, reread this one, annotate, write a super long review on my feelings when I first read it and my feelings when I reread it, knowing what I know, and then I'll read ACOWAR lmao.

Currently Reading for a 3rd Time: May 11, 2024
I'm ALMOST done annotating, but I want to say this now: I am CONVINCED that Falling Like The Stars by James Arthur is the Feysand ANTHEM. I'll give my whole playlist after I finish my review. <3

Finished for a 3rd time!
Oh. My. God. The ending gets me every time. And every time its a five star read. Originally i was going to go chapter by chapter but I don't think i'm going to have room so I'm just gonna go through the book in chronological order and talk about my favorite parts. Also, some characters have been relegated to their first initials to preserve space.

The fact that Tamlin has never woken up when she has nightmares says a LOT about what he's turning into. It's a serious issue. On a lighter note, we do get a first glimpse into the way the night calls to Feyre, AND a glimpse into her strength, which comes into play later when Rhys is trying to help her learn to remember that strength. Also, even though Feyre is High Fae now and will be protected, T legit will not let her go anywhere off the grounds. I hate it I hate it I hate it. Also the fact that she didn't tell anyone her birthday...and oh gosh we meet Ianthe. I need to make something clear. There is no character in this series I hate more than I hate Ia. She is LEGIT the worst. And the way Feyre just bends to her will...ugh ugh ugh. Also the High Lady thing gets on my nerves bc T you could CHANGE THAT ugh ugh ugh ugh UGH.

OHHHH BOY HERE WE GO.
1. We see how much Feyre is called to the night sky on page 38.
2. omL her wedding dress like wth its so STUPID
3. Feyre really struggled with this wedding and honestly that's ok. You should be able to say no if you need to.
4. RHYSAND HAS ENTERED THE CHAT!!!
I whirled, and through the night drifting away like smoke on a wind, I found Rhysand straightening the lapels of his black jacket.
"Hello, Feyre darling," he purred.

Ok so is Rhys a cat? Also everytime he says 'Feyre darling' when listening to the audiobook sent shivers down my spine I love it so much. I love HIM so much.
Welcome to the Night Court Moving on, can we just take a minute to appreciate the first paragraph of chapter 5? It's PERFECT. Like, PERFECT. And then when he's taking her it's so funny. And then Feyre's first though about the Night Court is that it's the most beautiful place shes ever seen--kind of like her thoughts on Rhys lmao. ahh and pages 46 and 47 just make me laugh, and Rhys hating her dress too...Ohh and the way he notices things no one else does, even though he can only see them when using the bargain. Oh and the SHOE THROWING it's absolute GOLD. And then we get Mor's first words and AHHH i love her so much *commence sobbing*. The thing about being nocturnal is something I feel like younger Rhys would have done. And then we MEET M and I just love her so much oml and shes so fuuuuny omg <3. And THEN the reading and shielding thing I lost it the first time I read this and Rhysand was so supportive and Feyre picked up the shielding pretty quickly actually. Okk then Rhys says there can be high ladies and I wrote: -_- T we need to talk. Ok then the sentences can we talk about how Rhys probably just wrote things he wanted to hear Feyre say one day because oh my GOSH these sentences are absolute gold.

Alr back to the Spring Court T is bugging her for info like actually man how callous can you be right? And then the Tithe. This is one of my least favorite chapters, actually, although the foreshadowing here is top notch. And THEN ooo the study scene *crackes knuckles* this pissed me off so fucking much and I got really angry because as much as I loved Feyre's girl power here I hated T for this.

Alright now Rhys is back baby and the food thing like Rhys notices everything and T notices virtually nothing. So yeah theres that. So Rhys is worried because he sees how she's a shadow of herself. And then we get more sentences, etc etc. We see Feyre reading and I connect with her bc she understands (see page 112).

Ok so back at the SC, Ia is saying that Rhys would use Feyre for breeding and this made me want to throw up ngl. And THEN. Ohhh boy oh boy oh BOY yall T traps her in that damn house and M gets her out and Rhys is very obviously pissed off and honestly so was I.

So we move on and Feyre decides she's not going back to the SC and we get one of my favorite quotes (i have it as my lock screen at points)
Rhys's smile widened into a grin. "To Velaris, the City of Starlight."
And omG i just wanna live there *sobbing*

And THEN we get the goldenness of the first time Feyre hears Amren and Cassian and Azriel ahh I love them all so much. And then we get the dinner. And i'll probably touch on this more later but I love that Feyre can relate to a bit of each of Rhys' friends.

So now I'm gonna skip a few chapters because otherwise this review is going to be like only half the book. And I'd rather talk in detail about my favorite parts than spend 4000 characters talking about unimportant things. So now on to the Bone Carver. I have more to say about the Bone Carver in ACOWAR but lets just say that I found Rhys' reactions to what Feyre said very good and almost heartwarming and also...well I'll say that in my ACOWAR review.

Soooo next biggie baddie: the WEAVER. But before the weaver we have this little line:
"You are my salvation, Feyre."
ahhh y'all I'm so fr I need a man like Rhys. So moving on to the Weaver my big two things are this: YES FEYRE GIRL POWER. and this: The weaver after letting Feyre steal her future engagement ring:

Then we go to their sisters, and uncommon opinion: I LOVE LOVE LOVE NESTA <3. After that we have note passing, which is simulatenously cute and funny and steamy like whoooo its hot in here.

And THEN we find out about the music UTM and honestly if that didn't make you cry the first time (or every time) you read it then idk what to tell you.

Then we go to the summer court, and I legit had to SCREAM at Feyre like omg girl ur JEALOUS its OBVIOUS. I'm gonna be honest tho I do like Tarquin and if Rhys is taken can I have Tarquin please? And THEN we get my all time favorite book quote of all time so stay with me here.
To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys."..."To the stars who listen, and the dreams that are answered."
.

So then we get the book of breathings and that was so cool and impressive i'm so proud of Feyre ngl. And Am, ofc. That's when the foreshadowing in chapter 8 comes into play too, which I though was really cool.

Then we find Rhys sulking lol bc he wanted a friendship with Tarquin and he thinks it's his fault it was ruined. But its no ones fault. They were going to figure it out eventually. And then the lingerie scene that wasn't real I lost my mind that was insane. Rhys, you diabolical ANGEL. And then the nightmare scene which was scary but wholesome and I feel sooo bad for Rhys bc he does not deserve this but at the same time I appreciate that we had this scene as a feysand bonding experience.

Next: the tattoos are foreshadowing bc Rhys has crouched before her but never kneeled, meaning even if he loved her for ages he wasn't sure bc he didn't want to jinx it. And ahh I love Am like in the audiobook the "you--oh, I like you" is breathy and its soooo funny. I'd also like to point out that Cass and Mor were helping her with gaining back weight and that C is teaching her how to wield Illyrian weapons.

Moving on: mortal queens. God I legit hate them so much it's not even funny anymore they're the worst like absolute BARF right now. And then ugh page 386 if they know of Rhys's reputation then shit must be bad. But then when they start condescending to Feyre Rhys gets very angry and goes all lethal calm Rhys. Then Mor gets up and omg PERIOD M lets go. We get more backstory and then NOOO they have to show the vipers velaris. Then at the end of the chapter Elain serves, eats, and leaves NO crumbs lets go girl.

Then we get more backstory on Drakon and a bit of foreshadowing about D...and then we find out what happened to Mor. And istg I wanted to murder everyone in the Hewn City, starting and ending with Keir. Yes he's important next book but UGH I hate him I hate him I HATE him. Alr so then we get some wing action (see pages 400-401) and then we're in the Hewn City. It's actually pretty cool and all I will say about this is Ooooooo my Lord it was getting steamy up in there. Then Rhys goes all angry Night Lord Rhys for a minute. And by the end of the night they get in a big blowup fight and Feyre realizes she might want something more than friendship with Rhys...

AND THEN STARFALL OMG PLS WORLD I NEED TO SEE STARFALL *sobs*. And it makes me laugh everytime bc its just so wholesome with the Star goo or whatever and its so cool and they just dance and dance and dance under the stars. And honestly I love this scene so much but it's hard to put it into words how MUCH I love it.

So now they're at the Illyrian camp and honestly I thought this was really cool. But I don't have much to say on it, so lets move on to the fact that Rhys legit tells a whole story about T which was nice bc that is important to know for later on in ACOWAR. And then LUCIEN OMG I actually used to like him and started to like him again in ACOWAR but geez this dude...but I want to focus on the wings thing because that was COOL. And important for later when...well I'll save that for my ACOWAR review.

Ok so the next like 8 chapters are very Feysand so for the most part I'm going to group them together because I think they really fit well together and you have to read them as one big part. So chapter 48 is mainly just steam, then chapter 49 Rhys gets shot out of the sky. But right before he does he says he has one more story to tell and I'll come back to this later <3. Then Feyre is slowly healing him and she goes to find the Suriel and OMG THE MOMENT WE"VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR YALL RHYSAND AND FEYRE ARE MATES I REPEAT RHYSAND AND FEYRE ARE MATESwhen I tell you I cried I mean CRIED. I lost my mind. And when Rhys said he wanted to tell her I am convinced that when he said he had one more story he was going to tell her but then he got shot out of the sky. And Feyre gets angry bc he didn't tell her and leaves him in the mud and goes to the cabin, where she starts painting again and paints all her friends. And then CHAPTER 54. This is my favorite chapter in the WHOLE BOOK it makes me cry every time and honestly like you just have to read it to understand. No notes on chapter 55 :|.

Then Cass provokes Rhys but that's what he needed to do, we get found family moments, etc etc. (I'm not trying to gloss over stuff I just don't want to run out of room).

And then back to the queens that we all hate with a passion (who's with me?) but we do get the book and then we go back to Velaris and get THE MOST KICK ASS SCENE IN ARGUABLY FEYRES ENTIRE EXISTENCE MAYBE EVEN IN ACOWAR BC OMG she blocked out RHYS which is impressive in and of itself but ALSO what she did to the Attor omL lets give a round of applause for our girl.

Alr so now we're going to hybern and heres the list of people I want dead: -tamlin -the king -tamlin -the queens -TAMLIN. like dude are you serious? Also i found it funny that lucien told elain they're mates 0.05 seconds after the most traumatic experience of her life. and then feyre BREAKING DOWN THE WARDS and doing the whole 'broken mind control' thing so they could get out was awesome. and when you realize amren wasn't telling rhys to go get feyre bc they're mates but because feyre is family its just *sobs uncontrollably*. and then tamlin unwittingly led the high lady of the night court into his territory.

So, suffice it to say i ADORE this book, its one of my favorite Sarah J Maas books, 110%. it's amazing, 6 stars if I could I just-ahhh I love it soso here's the feysand playlist (if you want to find it on Spotify its called strictly made for feysand and the quote is the quote mentioned above from when they're in the summer court):

This book takes the characters and story in an interesting direction as compared to the first book.  I liked this one so much better!  Feyre grows so much, Rhysand is captivating, and we get to meet more characters.  The romance is actually interesting and doesn't fall flat.  The world also opens up more in this book.  I'm so glad I kept going with this series.

I think this is the best book in the series. I'm glad Feyre finally came to her senses about Tamlin.

My heart was not prepared for the emotional rollercoaster that was this book. I never wanted it to be over, but couldn't stop reading it.
The found family, the love, the respect, the friendship!!! How empowering it is, the way Feyre grows and finds strength in herself!! It seriously took away any complaints I had about the first book.
The plot was fantastic, a bit predictable at parts, but that didn't take away from it a single bit. The characters are amazing and add so much to the story. So much backstory, so many stories I would love to read and know everything about!
I will be immediately starting the next one because I cannot wait to see what happens next.
