Board book, amazing illustrations
I thought this was pretty wonderful and was more interested in it than my 3 and 5 year olds seemed to be. I was afraid it would remind me of the non-children's Japanese horror book [b:Uzumaki: Spiral into Horror, Vol. 1|25152|Uzumaki Spiral into Horror, Vol. 1|Junji Ito|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1389137178l/25152._SX50_.jpg|25901], but it didn't!
The rhyming text works beautifully with the gorgeous illustrations to explore spirals in nature. Yet another great nonfiction read aloud.

Another lovely book by Sidman, with really well-suited illustrations. I appreciate the ability of the poetry to work and not feel overly "interrupted" by the names of the animals illustrated, with further explanations kept to the back matter. I've happened upon a lot of nonfiction verse recently and this is appears to be a hard balance to strike, at least to my satisfaction.
The scratchboard illustrations are beautiful! I love how they fill up the pages and create all these little spaces for other little images. The text is spot on by being easy to follow and also lyrical. I also love when children's books have a set of pages at the end that expand on the subjects in the texts for readers who are super interested in learning more, and this book offers that. This book would make a great gift for a child that is interested in animals and/or nature.
My 3 year old loves this book! He enjoys the animals, colors, and, yes, the swirls.
The illustrations are pretty. I didn’t feel like it really explained much within the book though.
I learned all about swirls in nature and how they are everywhere. This book is great in showing where there are swirls everywhere and identifying all kinds of flowers and animals. A great book!
