I wasnt really feeling it until about 70% through, and then cried real tears at the end. I would not classify this as a horror story, as it was suggested to me. I didnt find it scary or chilling in any way, just sort of sad. It takes a while to develop but the love story was what I enjoyed the most (though i kind of didnt understand why they fell in love...I didn't feel any particular connection between them, nor was i attached to anyone but the protagonist, and that took a while)

I liked the atmosphere of this book. Shea Ernshaw succeeded in writing a story that almost felt like a fairytale. I wasn’t really able to stop reading once I started. In general, I liked the story of the Swan sister, I was looking forward to the flashback and to see how they fitted in the modern plot. I didn’t care about any of the characters, they weren’t bad, I just didn’t feel anything for them or for what was happening to them. I feel liked the curse could have been more developed, I didn’t understand how the sisters were cursed. I figured the plot twist right at the beginning which kind of annoy me. Bo and Penny’s relationship was too insta-love for me. Also, the end kind of annoyed me. I didn’t understand why Bo actually stayed after everything with Penny even tho he wasn’t really in love with her when she returned. True, he wanted to be close to Hazel, but it still felt off to me. Even if it’s seems like I didn’t liked much about this book, it’s a interesting story about witches/sirens that reads like a fairytale and this is why I gave it 3 stars.

I seem to be in the minority here when I say that I liked The Wicked Deep. In fact, I really liked it. Despite the odd insta-love between Penny and Bo, the setting of the novel and the all-around lore of the witches' curse more than made up for it. That being said, I think I'll read more by Shea Ernshaw in the future.

Also I did not call that twist. I'm really bad at that. :)

Oh my god 😭 this was a very sad story.
I feel bad for hazel, and for penny and for bo and for everyone in the book.
It's the book I'm reading from a dead person's perspective, it was really interesting, I loved the writing style.
There were times when things were predictable, but I guess that only made me for excited, knowing things before they happen, then anticipating for when it will actually happen.
I also like how hazel talked about love, not many books and love stories actually talk about love itself.
I was hooked the whole time, love it.
And the ending, goshh i wanna cry, i want to see more of penny and bo, how they fall in love again, cuz this is very sad, he still loves hazel, who is dead T_T so so so sad.

This book is everything I ever wanted out of a supernatural romance. I love how most of the book leads you to suspect someone else and then REALLY throws you for a loop. "Penny Talbot" is such an interesting Character and Bo is probably my new book boyfriend. Gotta love the tortured soul of a love out of reach am I right ladies? The very last chapter, Land and Sea, made this book for me. It was written in that painfully beautiful way that very few authors seem to encompass. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book.
