Ten years ago, Rosemary Thomas is found guilty of murdering her husband, Thomas. It was said that Thomas’s body was found encased within an iron maiden trap. His body was decayed and so decomposed that it was almost impossible to identify his body. The only thing that the police were able to use was a small, piece of a tooth.

Jon Nunn was the lead detective on the case. Present day. To this day the image of Rosemary’s execution still haunts Jon. Jon decides to reinvestigate the case for closure. What Jon finds instead is a web of lies and deceit.

What do you get when you mix some of the best (twenty-six mystery writers to be exact) and ask them to collaborate on one mystery novel? You just get one of the best books of 2011! The book is…No Rest for the Dead.

Ah, as if you could not already guess but I really, loved this book. I started this book on my lunch hour and by the time my hour was up, it was hard to go back to work and concentrate. I finished this book later that afternoon. There were no mis-steps in this book. It flowed and read like one author had written the book. One of my favorite parts was when author Kathy Reichs contributed her chapters. She didn’t so much write a chapter but instead wrote the forensic reports. I have read a few of her books and she was middle of the road to me but after reading her parts, I think I will try her again. I met many new authors to me that I will be checking out. I kept trying to figure out who the killer was and the motive before the story was over. I wanted to see if I could beat the authors but sadly, I did not figure it out until I was suppose to but this did keep the book interesting. Mystery/suspense fans you have got to pick up a copy of this book. Besides, you will be helping a great cause by purchasing a copy of this book. Editing brother and sister team, Andrew and Lamia Gulli are donating their portion of the proceeds to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

This book has a unique perspective, every chapter of the book has been written by different crime authors. Some get more than one to write but as you progress through the story you need to keep in mind it was written by different authors. Authors who never saw any of the other chapters just had a rough outline of what had to happen.

What a story it is as well. Christopher Thomas has been murdered his body hidden in an iron maiden. Rosemary Thomas his wife is number one suspect. She is convicted and executed for the crime. But, was she guilty?

So spins a wonderfully crafted tale of deceit and intrigue. With one killer twist. The story is well crafted and told from multiple points of view. I simply couldn’t stop turning the pages.

This is an amazing novel I can’t thank my mum enough for gifting it to me. The only negative I’m thinking a sequel might be difficult to organise.

BOOK 9 (OUT OF 21) OF MY HOLIDAY READS - AUGUST 2022

An enjoyable read - 4*

I enjoyed this and I enjoyed the twist in the plot however I thought it would be better. I've read this kind of twist before so I wasn't as shocked. Anyway, it was for a good cause and there was a huge range of mystery authors to sink your teeth into.

Exceptionally intriguing premise. Not necessarily in the story itself, but that 25 outstanding very well-known suspense and thriller writers got together to write it. Each one taking a turn at a section or chapter to further the story of greed, murder, vengeance...seamlessly along. This could have gone horribly trite, but in the hand of these authors...awesomely done.
A wealthy woman marries the man of her dreams, she is accused of murdering him and is sent to death row and executed. The man was a crap-weasel who serially cheated on his wife and used his position as a museum curator to ill ends. Not many were sad to see his demise. The story is written so amazingly that I wanted to reach in and snatch this creep by the short hairs and do some damage.
Ten years after her execution, a memorial is held per the wishes of her last will and testament. Each person involved is invited.
The story goes back and forth in time to introduce each player and how they have fared since the execution. Each has a secret. Each could have committed the murder.
I have read some of the authors' before, others I haven't but have added to the WWBL author list.
Big ol' HUGE definite recommend!

This novel may be the only one I've ever read with many different authors writing chapters. I thought it flowed quite well with each author adding her/his twists.

Interesting project to have different authors write different chapters. Good enough.
