I was feeling 4 stars until near the end of the book. I felt frustrated with how all the conflicts were solved a few pages after they started, but by the end I was entranced with the feel good nature of the novel.
A marked improvement from her previous novel.
Pros:
- Free bookmark!
- Themes of friendship, pop poetry and the controversy surrounding it, types of reviewers (interesting to know that there are names for the various types of reviewers and I like the acknowledgement that 'hate reviews' exist)
- Vibrant storytelling with visuals such as tweets (very on trend, author certainly gets her audience and pop culture) and texts
- Lovely best friend character and grandfather
- Stunning cover (shout out to the designer!)
- Quick and easy read (can be both good and bad depending on how you look at it)
Cons:
- Pacing is too fast even for YA
- And because of that, story lacks depth
- Characters lack growth and are too one-sided; everyone is pretty much a stereotype/trope and Sash is the most one-dimensional, flat and non-complex male lead ever
- "Haden" becomes "Hayden" afterwards (where's the proofreading)
- Everything is pretty much predictable and there's not much conflict or side plots; there's only one weak conflict that was easily resolved
- Unrealistic portrayal of the road to success, fame and the industry; no mention about the main character working on her manuscript at all and everything comes easily to her with the snap of a finger because ~destiny~ and ~intuition~
- The main character also somehow never has any financial struggles and every character ends up successful and happy
- Does not deal with real-life issues e.g. grief and loss and growing up
- Liberties taken with names e.g. Karla Swann = Bella Swan, Sal Dollinger = JD Salinger, Reader = Goodreads (why not just say it outright?) but strangely enough Buzzfeed is still Buzzfeed so I'm not sure why the inconsistency
- Juvenile writing; Lang Leav's most juvenile work
- The main character, after kissing her boyfriend the night before, talks about being in a "perpetual state of arousal" and how she had to "literally change my underwear twice this morning" wait what

This book was sent to me by the author, but no review nor post were promised.
(Not rating this one because I do not want to ruin someone’s launching campaign and I can’t come up with a proper rating anyeay.) Nothing was wrong per se with this book, it simply wasn’t for me. I thought everything went too fast and felt too big when it didn’t seem big to me, that the dialogues felt weird and so on. It all felt flat. On that note, tons of my friends love that author so it may just have not been the right book for me! I’ll keep focusing on other books.

terrible writing, the worst of YA descriptions. i realized i just didn’t want to sit through this book even if it did end up being okay because why bother?

Verity, a young lady who likes to write a poem with the help of her bestie and boyfriend - Jess and Ash, became viral through her creation.
The storyline really taught us how chaotic to be successful. From someone who got drunk on jealousy and even to be a free rider but Verity is really type of a person that generous and kind so she overcame it in optimistic way.

The story is so cute and shows the reality of Instagram poetry in an honest way. Though, the writing was just not my style and the characters were flat to me. I wanted to see more of Verity's romance; the plot felt rushed. Though this would be great for younger readers and I might have not been the targeted audience for this.
