Way too long and so so boring.
Proposing at someone else's wedding??? Literal gag.

I liked this story and these characters but this book could have easily been 150 pages shorter. There was a ton of filler and it had me kind of mentally checking out from this story at the climax when it should have hit the hardest. I am honestly more excited about some of these side characters. I love Carter and Olivia in the beginning and I loved watching their relationship grow, but there was way too much of them just happy and in love. It had me a little bored with them and waiting to find out more about the rest of the players on the team.

I am definitely going to keep reading this series.

This is the second book I've read from Becka Mack's Playing for Keeps series, and I loved it.

I loved Carter and Olivia's chemistry. They had rocky moments, which were entirely understandable considering his history, and her views on intimacy.
I appreciate how mature, understanding and willingly open they were with each other, and I could relate how their relationship progressed quite quickly within a few months.
I loved the banter between all the characters. I loved the familial dynamics that touch your heart with a bit of sadness, but shows you that you can still grow in grief, as well as grow in being able to love more.

I laughed every time Carter said "sword of thunder," though cheesy, I found it endearing. Also, he is truly a big fluffy bear.

I'm not giving a full 5 stars because of the forced miscommunication which lead to a temporary break-up. I know it's typical in some stories for something to stir the pot and force the main characters apart, but it could've been simpler if they just continued to communicate instead of taking on burdens on their own.

Anyway, I would put this on my list of potential re-reads. I loved it.

I love a great hockey romance.

(2.5) This was 200 pages too long, but even with a stronger editor, this would just not be for me. Carter was charming, although a bit too over-the-top, Olivia was nice and i understood where her fears came from, but she was so back and forth it was exhuasting (also, i think she was probably a bad teacher, she had very little boundaries with her students which bugged me). Parts of it were fun (i enjoyed the larger friend group), but the fun parts got bogged down by the repetition.
