There were so many things that I enjoyed about this book, and yet so many things that completely threw me out of the narrative and made it harder to get through than it should have been. I'll try an elaborate while avoiding major spoilers.
Ok, so the first thing is a little nitpicky/petty... It was great to pick up a book by a Canadian author, set in Canada, with Canadian characters... So why the heck were they talking about house temp in Fahrenheit?? Oven temp? Yes, that goes in Fahrenheit. Indoors/Outdoor temp? Celsius. I know it's weird, but it's a Canadian theme. I'll give this a little grace because I'm hoping it was a publisher thing?
The other thing is also related to temp, and I admit, skirts spoilers. Basically, the FMC has their furnace crap out on them. This is after *repeated* discussions of how unbelievably, unusually, brutally cold the winter has been this year. And I acknowledge that Vancouver winters are very different from Edmonton winters, but having a working furnace is a non-negotiable. Especially when you've made a point to talk about how extremely cold it has been for a Vancouver winter. That's how pipes freeze and larger issues occur. And yet the FMC left it for over a week while she saved up and slept in multiple layers... I get that it was a cute "knight in shining armour" moment, but maybe after a day? Not ten. I got so annoyed by the unreality of it that I didn't care by the time it was resolved. You get that thing financed! ASAP!
I also had a hard time liking the MMC. He's annoying, he blows past every boundary the FMC tries to put up, and he's ridiculously overbearing and arrogant. And he jumps to 'perfect boyfriend" waaaay too quickly.
I also think that the story it much longer than it needs to be. And yet, somehow, the author didn't have enough room to include some significant familial relationships and their reactions to the lovers. 500+ pages and the author basically dropped the FMC's parents from the page? Ran out of room? When the main obstacle is the MMC's wild past, it seems insane that we never saw her parents reaction.
The only reason I'm going to keep reading is because I liked the other guys on the team, and am hopeful that I will enjoy their stories better.

De MMC klinkt het hele verhaal lang als een hormonale puber die net heeft ontdekt dat dat wormpje meer kan dan alleen plassen.
Als ik me zou gedragen als de FMC was ik al 12x ontslagen met 7 rechtzaken aan mn broek.
Dit boek zou minstens de helft dunner kunnen zijn.
Would not recommend.

I might have rated this book higher if it was shorter. 500+ pages is too long for a book with this thin of a plot.
