This book was fantastic. It was funny, sweet and sexy-a combo that really worked well throughout. The story line and the characters kept me interested and honestly, there were times I was laughing so hard my stomach hurt. Brand was a good mix of protective, alpha, demon hunter and loveable, sweet talking teddy bear. When he got jealous of Addy having to go with Pootie to the dance and parade, it was so cute, and laugh out loud funny.

As for the writing, it was crisp and flowed well. The characters were developed fully and even though the romance (and action of the story) took place in a short period of time (about a week, I think), the resolution made sense and didn't feel rushed.I cannot wait to read more in this series and by this author in the future.

*This book was a self purchase. All opinions are my own.*

NOTE: Oh this is one for the Snort Club! I am telling you I belly laughed through out this whole book. If you are looking for just some good old-fashion fun when reading then this book is for you!

What I LOVED: Evie! Yes I know this is Addy's book. If I had to be honest, it is Evie that really made me smile. She is such a fantastically written character from the beginning to the end. I love when a secondary character gets to come out and be a star (at least to me and Ansgar). Call it the "frump girl" in me but that kind of character always makes me root for them! Of course I loved Blondie (Ansgar), Addy, and Brand too. Demon Hunting in Dixie is full of moments that just make you laugh out loud till you snort. In fact, fair warning: no drinking of liquids while reading! I love that Demon Hunting in Dixie was light, fun, and humorous all the way through.

What I LIKED: The story was fun and quirky! While it was a little slow in the middle, there were tons of funny moments to fill in the holes. I had fun reading about the adventures in the little town of Hannah and can't wait to read more! The town was just full of quirky characters that you just want to visit again.

Complaints: None! Don't read on an empty stomach because you will be wanting some good old fashioned southern comfort food. Seriously, there was one section that I was craving Fried Chicken without the super hot sauce though!

Just a few favorite MOMENTS (all from the first because I am not giving anything away):

"Supernatural woo-woo was way out of her league. Who was she kidding? The stuff she'd seen tonight didn't happen to anybody. It was too SyFy Channel for words."

"Y-you wanna go out sometimes? I got my own truck." Lord love a redneck, Addy though with a mental eye roll.

"You bet your bippy I'm upset." Addy's voice rose. "I'm Mount Vesuvius, and I'm fixing to go Pompeii on your ass."

Why I gave it a 4.00: If you like fun Southern humor with a bit of paranormal thrown in then this book is for you! I would put Lexi in my Dakota Cassidy and Molly Harper love group. Only the best for the Snort Club!

This book started out really funny but when every person in the book is such a character I have a hard time with it. It was just too much. There were some really funny things going on though. Dooley the dog was so funny every time she was in a scene. And I just loved Brand and Ansgar. I just couldn't get past all the other people.

I'll start by saying that I liked it well enough that I tried to read the sequel on Kindle Unlimited. Tried, but failed and couldn't finish it. I spent a lot of time in the south as a kid so I figured the southernisms wouldn't bother me as much as they seemed to annoy other people. I was wrong.

I will leave the summary to the book jacket, as it doesn't really go any deeper than that. The demons
Spoilerwhich aren't demons, but instead another alien race that are hunted by the hero's race figure very little into this story.

Instead I felt like it was Addy and Brand Vs. Southern expectations. Through out the entire book I just wanted to say:

I get it, really I do. I lived there. Bible belt. Things are a little more conservative than other places in the US but it isn't the Antebellum era! A woman's reputation isn't going to be impugned for holding hands with an attractive man. Yes, there are the pearl claspers everywhere
Spoiler like Bitsy, her mother, but even Bitsy's relationship with the sheriff showed she wasn't that uptight
. Her aunt Muddy seemed to be the only one who wasn't a caricature of who/what a woman in the south is.

I disliked Addy so very much for most of the book, but I stuck with it and it turned around. There was enough cute, humor to make me stick with it, even as I rolled my eyes at everything else. Ansgar was more interesting to me than Brand, but I think that was the
Spoilerconstant bickering and dislike between he and Addy
. Oh, and Dooly. Can't forget Dooly.

Overlooking the overblown responses of the southern "ladies" and Addy, the comedy and actual plot was solid so it earned 3 stars for me.

Started pretty weak, but it got better as it went along. It's an ok beach book (borderline romance novel). Not good if you're looking for thought provoking, but ok for a laugh.

This was silly and funny and just plain fun. I laughed so hard in places I started to cry. I don't read many of this type of books but the next time I'm in the mood for one you an bet I'm going to read the next one. It's a nice change of pace from my usual fair.

This looked so fun! The Southern setting, demons, an independent heroine. Well...it took 20 chapters for me to decide things were too drawn-out for my taste. Hopefully I'll come back to it one day, but there were just too many POV's I didn't care about, and it took ages for stuff to happen. I'm putting this down for now.

The story is cute, but not very well developed. It has about every cliche about small town in the South. Since I grew up in a small town in the South, it did resonate with me. There were even a few places that made me laugh out loud. Don't expect too much from this story, but mindless story that has some cute parts. This will be your story.
