All the elements were there, but something felt off. Im not sure why I had such a hard time with it.

Widower romances are low on the list of tropes I like when they aren’t already ready to move forward. It’s one thing to still love someone it’s another to still be in love with them, and who can compete with a ghost. Anyway that part of it was navigated ok but I didn’t love it. I did however love the connection between the mains, something about a person always wanting to touch and hold you is just top tier. It’s the cute, contemporary side of possessive and obsessive. One thing this book did was drive home my bucket list item to visit a uber Christmas town. I think the Christmas vibes were on point and all the food talk had me snacking hard during this read. I didn’t love all the unnecessary recapping but overall the writing was decent and the story was enjoyable.

For the last five years, Saira has had a successful career as an author with Brownstone Literature. But, when her last three books fail to make the top ten and her ratings start to plummet, Saira’s publisher takes notice. She’s summoned to the offices of Brownstone Literature to, essentially, be put on notice. They’re pressing pause on her current work in progress and want her to start working on a holiday book ASAP. Now, Saira detests holiday romances and she purposely does not write them. But, if she wants to continue working for Brownstone Literature she betta come up with one expeditiously. Playing Let It Snow on repeat is not helping Saira find the Christmas spirit to write this holiday book. After some research, she lucks up and finds a small town in Indiana called Santa Clause. With no hesitation, Saira books her flight and packs her bags.

Great light hearted read.

This was a very good story. She is a writer on a mission to find the Christmas spirit so she can write a holiday novel. He is a firefighter and her AirBnB host. Sparks fly the moment they met. He is also a widower and has been very cautious with his heart.
Even with the frequent use of the word "yoni", which I absolutely hate, I didn't DNF this book. I enjoyed it a lot. The story was super cute.

DNF at 54%. I really love how this book started out, and I loved the community of people that welcomed Saira, and all of the fun and festive events she attended. And Dorian is very swoony.

But I just wasn’t feeling the connection between the two of them. I honestly would’ve loved a story about the side characters and the community they’ve built with each other and how they welcomed Saira with open arms. That’s what kept me captivated more so than anything for over half the book.

A few of the bigger complaints I have were the constant “yoni” references. I just absolutely cannot with that. The other thing is that there is an unnecessary amount of detail about each home setting. I’m talking multiple pages describing every single detail of the home she’s in. It felt like the writer was just trying to make the book longer by adding a bunch of unnecessary details about the setting.

I tried so hard but this book sucks. It reads like no one edited it with this awful dialogue and these overly descriptive sections. Also, infatuated first sight? No thank you.

This was such a cute read and so realistic in plot, activities and the make-up of the town. I loved the chemistry and relationship between Dorian and Saira, as well as their relationships with their friends, families, and town members. The story was detailed enough in description to allow me to visualize each scenario without being OVERLY descriptive. And I loved the references to an actual narrator and products, as well as the realistic quotes and quips. I've read one other book by this author and will definitely read even more of her catalogue.
