Sav R. Miller (Monsters & Muses, #2)
“You have scars, but they don’t have you.” I’m not sure if either of us is breathing anymore. “And you, Riley f–king Kelly, are beautiful in a way that’d make the constellations weep.”
When rockstar Aiden James goes on a one night adventure with a mysterious girl, his obsession with her mounts into something so deep, they're reaping the consequences even three years later.
Every single Sav R. Miller review of mine starts with how good the writing is because I am perpetually and constantly floored at how good the writing is. I am not even kidding when I say I think her words are addicting and obsessive. I have no idea how she writes such dark romances with so much beauty, but it's a talent I will forever be in awe of.
After reading [b:Oaths and Omissions|59771229|Oaths and Omissions (Monsters & Muses, #3)|Sav R. Miller|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1644241208l/59771229._SY75_.jpg|94141856]–which quickly became one of my favorites this year and Jonas is one of my top book boyfriends–I went back to read this book. Though I was positively obsessed with the cover, it had tropes I was not a huge fan of and yet, I went back anyway for the author's writing. And I am so glad I did.
Aiden was the darkest, most possessive stalker ever. While there were definitely moments where I was like "alright bestie, I think we might need to go see a doctor," because of his deeply questionable morals, I couldn't stop reading because he was so hot. He instilled so much confidence in Riley, making her feel like she was beautiful and I loved that about him. Riley is such a strong and likable character, who just did what she was told her entire life and finally found someone who made her feel free.
The plot was good and engaging but it honestly was a little questionable to me at times. The ending felt a little rushed and random to tie it back into the beginning of the book. While I did love Part 1 of this book, I think it's wild that the first 45% or so happened in one night and then Part 2 is after three years and spans longer time than that. This was more relationship focused than plot–which for me is a plus and I am not at all complaining–but something to keep in mind if you're planning on picking this one up.
Sav R. Miller's dirty talk and steam are just on another level, as everyone knows, and this book definitely did not disappoint with the praise either. I won't even lie when I said half of my motivation to pick this book up was to read the spice.
I gotta do what I gotta do for praise and I'd do it again.
Anyway, I absolutely did not like anything about [b:Promises and Pomegranates|55921330|Promises and Pomegranates (Monsters & Muses, #1)|Sav R. Miller|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1625142781l/55921330._SY75_.jpg|87134618] (I wasn't all that mad about Kal showing up a bunch in this one, but thank God there was no Elena) and I loved [b:Oaths and Omissions|59771229|Oaths and Omissions (Monsters & Muses, #3)|Sav R. I guess this book was ok. For the story itself, I think it was 3,5 stars but I loved the cover so much so I rounded it up to 4 stars.
I don't read the first book yet because some of the reviews said something I agreeably don't like. Hence skipped book #1.
I think this is my very first book with anti hero as the character and I don't think I like it so much. I love reading morally gray hero but anti hero I don't fond about it just yet. Maybe if I read more with anti hero, I would eventually like it.
Aiden tho there were many things wrong about him but Sav R. Miller kinda explained well through the story and I was kinda understand why he acted like that.
For Riley, I don't know whether I like her or not. But I couldn't stop reading and for me, it was the sign that I might like this book.
