I told a colleague I was reading Edward Snowden’s book. My colleague said, without a pause, “That guy’s a traitor to his country.”
I don’t see it that way. Snowden did the world a favour, and he was exceptionally brave to do so. He was prepared to sacrifice his life for his principles, and for citizens everywhere.
Of course, I am biased, because I have read Snowden’s account. But what he says checks out. And the international changes to privacy protection since serve to paint his actions as just and correct.
Thanks.

Funny is I learned the opposite lesson that Ed Snowden was probably trying to show.
