Better than the first
This story flowed better. I really liked the first book. I liked this book more.
The ending seemed rushed, but otherwise, a good read.

Second in the Ex-Heroes series. This is more of the same as [b:Ex-Heroes|16479439|Ex-Heroes (Ex-Heroes, #1)|Peter Clines|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1360646185s/16479439.jpg|10753679].
Blissfully, the author does not spend a lot prose on filling in the backstory of the first book. Otherwise, all is as described in my review of the first book. (My review.)
I find this series to be amusing, pulpy, quick-reading, light entertainment. So much so, I bought the entire series (pre-owned). I assume I'll be starting the next in the series [b:Ex-Communication|17229633|Ex-Communication (Ex-Heroes, #3)|Peter Clines|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1373585286s/17229633.jpg|23744003] shortly.

Spoiler
Notable changes include: St. George and Stealth maintain their romantic tension, Cerberus acknowledges her Ex-inspired agoraphobia, a major new superhero (Captain Freedom) and minor hero (The Driver) are added, a new super villain is added and an old super villain reappears with a new name (Legion). The Zombie meta now is looking to be inspired by [a:Mark Tufo|2990843|Mark Tufo|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/authors/1303757670p2/2990843.jpg]'s a [b:Zombie Fallout|8167001|Zombie Fallout (Zombie Fallout, #1)|Mark Tufo|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1328303798s/8167001.jpg|13012947].I find this series to be amusing, pulpy, quick-reading, light entertainment. Fun book that picked up well from the previous ex-heroes and does some subtle setup for the following ex-communication. Recommend this for anyone who loves zombies and superheroes genres. The author does a good job of keeping a steady pace and not lingering too long. Just plain fun really.
Such an easy book to tear through. Clines tells a great story with characters that are articulated enough that you either love or hate them, but not so much that it becomes a boring character development morass - this is an action book, and there is plenty of it. I love the twists in this one, and I look forward to reading more.

Well, I did not like this as much as the first book. Mostly, this is due to just not caring about any of the new, military characters. I found myself seriously skimming the flashback chapters that focused on any of them, and did not feel like I missed much. However, there are some nice twists to the overall plot, some cool character scenes with the original cast, and one new addition to the heroes that was a nice, cool surprise, so overall, I'll still give this a solid 3 stars, maybe even a 3.25.
