I’m obsessed with figure skating! That’s all the reason I needed to read Double Twist, an elementary chapter book about twelve-year-old Laura Lee, a junior ice dancer in Great Britain. When Laura’s moody partner, Patrick, is injured during a practice session, her dream of competing at the Junior Grand Prix event In Montreal, Canada, is dashed. Until, that is, she spots talent—and the rekindling of her hopes for gold—in the most unlikely person: soccer player, Scott, who just happens to have some fancy, if untrained moves on the ice. Can Laura whip Scott into the perfect partner in time to compete? And can Scott loosen up Laura with an out-of-the-box free dance?

My younger sister actually ‘recommended’ this entertaining book to me, and I consumed it in a couple of hours. I quibbled at the clichés (Scott being teased by friends for ice dancing, tough Russian pro) and some of the skills that the author described them performing (ice dancers DON’T JUMP, let alone do double twists, for Pete’s sake!). But the charm of this story is in Laura and Scott’s partnership, which starts off rocky, but gets stronger as they overcome obstacles both on and off the ice. This would make such a sweet television series.

Four stars.

I read this in like 2012 and I loved it then... I completely forgot what it was called so I wasn't able to add it on Goodreads when I started here but I just found it again today so here it is... I LOVED it when I read it but now it was a solid read but not really life changing
