I received the book I exchange for an honest review from NetGalley.
I keep going back and forth on whether to give this book 4 or 5 stars. The only detraction is that I thought it started off a little slow, but the end certainly made up for that.
This book is so powerful and realistic. I found myself wondering how the author could create this whole world, the town of Peaches, and all the disgusting and horrifying details of it. Most of the characters are awful people, yet so well-developed.
I highly recommend for those interested in cults, although this book is so much more than that.

This is one of those beautiful/sad books. It’s hard to read at times because of how awful the experiences of the MC are, but it’s also hard to put down because your hopes are raised for her situation to improve. Have tissues handy.
Godshot marks my third DNF this month, unfortunately. The writing was a delight, ever overwritten line and hint of purple prose, and Lacey's character was fascinating, but I'm not in the headspace for dealing with the content I can see coming.
the way in which this book scorched me. I came out of it sunbaked and parched and craving a gallon of ice cold water and one of Cherry’s cunty little strawberry cigarettes.
Also hand me that Godrifle and watch me take down the whole of the GOTS gang saving 500 bullets just for Vern.

Too bleak for me right now but the writing is stunning.
