Oh my word this book is DARK. A lot of reviews say this book is about the mother/daughter relationship, and it is, but the church/cult stood out to me so much more. Darkly disturbing but well worth the time.
I enjoyed this book immensely. I put it down only to get some sleep. I finished it in 24 hours! Anxious to find out where Lacey May ends up.
Cults are a side interest I have and this book did not let me down. I understood how the GOTS become so invested in one man, hoping and praying that he will bring them out of the drought their town is experiencing. It was a great story.
