Re-read! 4.5/5

Probably my 2nd favorite of the series after the first book.

It's been quite awhile since I read the first two books, and I remember loving both of them. This was an enjoyable, quick read, but the love wasn't there. It makes me wonder if I re-read the first two, how I'd feel about them now.

Giving this one 5 stars on principle since I read this in basically 48 hours.

Easily my favorite book in the series so far. The girls go through some real growing pains in this one, with lots of sweet love interests along the way. Ann so perfectly captures what it’s like to be on the brink of adulthood, about to head to college where everything is about to change. I found that still resonated with me now, at nearly 30. Really & truly loved.

November 2021: I remember this being my least favorite, but yeah it maybe because Eric is back

June 2016: wow I forgot a lot of this one in comparison to the first two, but it had been my least favorite of the original books so I'm not surprised it's my least favorite so far in my reread.

i know this book meant for young adult. but the story of 4 girls going through thick and thin somehow touching me.

that kind of friendship is rare. reading this book makes me believe there is magic in this world.

Carmen struggles with her mother's pregnancy and feels like she is losing her place in her mother's world; Lena goes to art school and gets closer to her family through her drawings of them; Bridget coaches soccer camp with Eric and tries to reign in her feelings for him out of respect for his girlfriend and fear of their last encounter, Tibby blames herself for her sister's accident and pushes everyone away.
