ok needlepaw/tail is back to being annoying! but i love twigpaw and alderheart and i feel bad for rowanstar because this is not the leadership he deserves tbh. rowanstar was nothing but loyal to his clan as a warrior and for them to turn their backs on him makes me a bit sad. but it is exactly what happened when tigerstar took over shadowclan: a terrible sickness swept through the camp, weakening leadership and making the clan desperate for someone strong.

The clans are crazy and paranoid again lol. Twigpaw and violetpaw will be interesting new perspectives.

if the erins would write their characters more convincingly it would be one of the best books in their entire series but Violetpaw joins like 4 groups based on who she likes besf at the moment and instantly develops loyalty to them

By the second book in this series, I'm finally settling down into the time period and the new characters. I like Twigkit much more than I expected, and Alderpaw, too. My biggest complaint centers around the conflict. Although I enjoy the drama going on with ShadowClan, I find it difficult to imagine how they got to such a point in the first place. For example, when the apprentices turn against the older warriors, I enjoyed the scene, because I felt anxiety for the older cats and sympathized with the younger cats' impatience and desire for a change in their Clan. However, repeated references to how ShadowClan casually breaks the warrior code and how the apprentices are unruly and often misbehave gave me pause. Is ShadowClan really that lax with its own cats? Is this an attempt to give ShadowClan a distinctive culture apart from ThunderClan, even if that culture is essentially rule-breaking and being subversive? (I feel similarly about Violetkit's story-line. I wish she weren't in such terrible and avoidable circumstances, but as things stand, I can understand how she is being tugged from one Clan to the next, desperate to find someone who won't abandon her. Her plot-line definitely tugs on my heart strings quite a bit.)

this one is definitely better than the first one! I really enjoy Twigpaw and Violetpaw’s story. The question between kin and clan and what that means for kin who were separated so early. I really enjoyed that a lot of this book takes place in ShadowClan. the fact that the apprentices rebelled was interesting but seemed very stoppable, like you are a leader and a whole clan, can you not just idk make them obey? pay better attention to your younger cats ShadowClan. Needlepaw and Sleekpaw are just annoying. and the way the rogues operate just doesn’t seem like it would attract apprentices? the gaslighting of Violetpaw from Needletail pissed me off. very sad that alot of SkyClan plot was just…not there? I guess Bramblestar is like “welp what can we do?” but I feel like Alderpaw should ATLEAST be a bit more pushy abt it. OK AND ALSO ONESTAR IS BEING SUCH A BITCH? CATS EVEN KITS ARE DYING HELP THEM OMG. anyway, better than the first! higher and higher hopes for the next!
