A new Hit by Susan Stoker

A beautiful story about abuse servivers.
Logan is ex military and serviced physical abuse along with his triplet brothers, when they were kids. Grace was Logan's tutor in high school. When the brothers come back to town after 10 years, Grace is still living in her abusive parents thumb.
One of the things I love about SS books is the way she makes the suspense build along with the love story. Her books are unputdownable - just one more chapter. If you want to read one of her books, this is a good start. I also highly recommend the Protection series ( my favourite) but all the series she writes will make you want to read the next

There are some moments that were tough to read, but seeing the people in Graces corner made it easier to handle. I literally despise Grace's parents. They're definitely one of the worst villains I've read. I give major props to Susan Stoker for her writing skill on writing them. Logan coming back to Castle Rock was meant to be in more ways than one. Logan and Grace were on the crusp of something amazing years ago until their lives took a different path. The climax of the book left me on the edge of my seat. I was gunning for Logan. The ending was just perfect for Logan and Grace. I liked the set up for the next book. I can't wait to read it.

Give this one a miss. The plot is completely ridiculous, the characters are inconsistent and over the top, and there is so much repetitive dialogue/inner monologues that it's like the author thinks if something is said often enough it makes it believable.
The only way I managed to get through this was by skim reading through about 60% of the book.
No interest in the rest of the series.

Claiming Grace is a second chance romance that won't be for the faint of heart. Both main characters grew up with abusive parents. While Logan was able to get away from the abuse, Grace didn't. 10 years after Logan left town, he's back with his brothers for good and will learn that Grace's life was more like his than he knew.

I like the approach the author took. The abuse Grace suffers is often times not recognized. A lot of people don't realize that emotional abuse can be more damaging than physical abuse. People who have been mentally abused can be broken down to the point of not being able to function independently. This is where people who've never been in a situation like this may not understand why someone doesn't just leave.

This was a great way to educate others to be more open minded. It's a beautiful but sad story that makes the ending a lot sweeter. ARC provided by NetGalley.

The prologue of this book almost made me stop reading, because it seemed to be focussing on men being abused as if it happens to them equally. Certainly, there should be services for abused men as well as women, but statistically, men win hands downs as the abusers for both sexes, and it sounded like the brothers would only focus on abused men, who are the minority.

Once the guys set up Ace Security, though, it was definitely equal opportunity, so that made sense. I also like that emotional abuse was defined and clarified as equally, if not more damaging, than physical abuse. I work in the counselling field so I don’t like inaccuracies about these issues.

Ok, so, the story. I love to hate Grace’s parents, and the letters between Logan and Grace bring forward their pain in losing each other as teens.

I also like that the brothers are triplets, and each has a skill that helps them protect people escaping terrible abusive relationships. The Grants are an interesting family, allowing the introduction of Alexis, and poor Brad, getting caught up in the evil web of Grace’s parents.

Loved the ending where Grace’s reclaims her power with her mother, and as she says “I win”.

Will give the next book a look.

it was OK. makes you thing twice about what people go through and the type of abuse. Glad that Logan and Grace found each other again

Logan & Grace

Wow. It seems inconceivable that there are parents out there as evil and bad as Grace’s parents. This is an epic second chance love story - where neither the MMC or FMC is responsible for it not working out the first time. I love their story and I love their happily ever after! So many amazing people that I am totally not ready to say goodbye. So excited for the next one.

Got the audiobook for free on audible, it was really good!

Thank you!
