Figured out the "suspense" halfway into the book. Meh.
This was a four star book in the beginning, but got repetitive and the twist was obvious. I listened to it on a road trip and it was perfect for that so sticking with 4, but could definitely be a 3 star.
Wow! Mind blown by this! If I hadn’t been on a plane I would have screamed at the twist! Years ago Finn’s girlfriend Layla disappeared from a rest area in France. When questioned by the police he didn’t quite tell the whole truth. Finn has a temper and didn’t want the police to add that into their investigation. Now he is engaged to Layla’s sister. When tiny Russian dolls that only Finn, Layla, and Emily know the significance of start turning up. Is Layla alive? Delightfully psychologically creepy that will have you finishing in one sitting.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a page turner from start to finish and kept me guessing. I did not love the ending which is why I only gave it 4 Stars. It was just a little too far fetched and unjust.
I don’t want to spoil anything but the end of this book made me scream and want to thrown my book in the worst way. I’m so bummed! The rest of the book was great! I kept thinking- this! This is the kind of book I love to read. But as the end got closer and closer, my thoughts turned to, “no. Please no.” The first 90% is wonderful and suspenseful, full of red herrings and curvy roads. That ending, though. Ugh.
Bring me Back
This story is about a young couple from the UK who take a holiday in France. However on their journey home they stop at a secluded toilet station in France where Layla goes missing after Finn uses the toilet. There is no trace of her at all and Finn returns to the UK in a daze and finally continues with his life.
Fast forward 12 years and Finn is preparing to get married to Layla’s older sister Ellen when little Russian dolls start to turn up. Then Finn starts to receive emails from an anonymous sender claiming to be Layla and threatening to tell Ellen she is back to claim her man.
What follows is a thrilling tale of how Finn tries to resolve the problem and placate Layla without Ellen finding out, but this brings up his old feelings for Layla. The ending is full of twists and I didn’t expect it to end like that.
I wasn’t sure how I felt about Bring me Back, I did enjoy reading it but I felt that the story line was a bit out there and whacky. But B A Paris writing style is excellent as always and that is what kept me going until the end.

Bring Me Back was an absolutely addictive psychological thriller! Even though this book hooked me from the very first page, I was left feeling unsatisfied in the end.
For most of the book, I was just as stumped as the main character was. Typically I consider any mystery/thriller that keeps me guessing to be an automatic winner. Unfortunately, this book's ending was totally outside the realm of possibilities which is why I hadn't figured it out. As unrealistic as the twist ending was, it was original (to me) but could've been revealed in a more creative way.
On top of that, I had a few other issues with this book. The 3 parts that divided this book were written in complete different styles and offered more of a disconnect than anything. The entirety of the story was also very repetitive and the characters never made me care about their lives.
For a thriller, I never was anxious or scared while reading this book. It may be an easy & addicting read, but ultimately isn't the best book in the genre to pick up.

If I could give this book a -10 I would. I don't even know where to begin. I was so disappointed because I LOVED LOVED LOVED Behind Closed Doors. The plot, if you could really say there was one, was just blah and not a thriller AT ALL and boring. The "twist"( I can't adequately express how loosely I use that term) didn't even make sense really and wasn't set up all that well. I can't say it was all that predictable but yet nothing that happened was a shock. I listened to this book so the inner monologues by the main character were so annoying and REDUNDANT. I only finished this book so I could write a review and warn people about it. I also just want state that I use Goodreads personally and would not be this in honest if professionally I was asked about this book. If one of my friends reads this book or has read it and didn't mind it please comment why because maybe I missed something.
I had high hopes for this, but I couldn’t get into it. The whole book seems to be Layla and Ellen telling Finn how much they love him and want him. I found it hard to believe it by how shallow he was written. The ending was a total letdown, and too unbelievable to be true. How could you not know?
