Bring Me Back

B.A. Paris

3.27 AVERAGE

I didn't really like Behind Closed Doors, but I wanted to give the author another try. Her books are just not for me. This is a quick read, I read it in just a few hours over a Friday night to Saturday morning. I had an idea about the twist about halfway through, but I thought that it just wasn't believable Is anyone really supposed to believe this ending? Awful.

Another quick B A Paris read and this time was written from a male POV, well for most of it.

Again, the twist wasn't a surprise (the clues are all there) and probably because I'm reading all the books in quick succession it made it more obvious.

The story centres around Finn, an irishman who has reinvented himself into the image of what he thinks he should be more times than I've had hot dinners, but then don't we all pretend a little to make sure we fit in with the people we surround ourselves with?

He used to live with Layla, a Scottish girl (she was a girl when they first met) whom he rescues, kidnaps really, and falls in love with. Or in lust with. Or maybe just becomes infatuated with. Luckily she thinks the same and until one terrible night where Layla disappears, it did look like happy ever after.

And then a few years later he falls in love with Layla's older sister Ellen and together they are starting a life, where they are about to be married but Layla resurfaces and opens old wounds, brings out secrets and pays the price for the 12 years she's been hidden.

The book kind of hooked me in from the beginning and I’ve got to admit I did not see the ending coming. I thought I had it figured out but I was wrong. Once I finished the book I thought Finn was

Good not great. Many twists as usual with this author. Definitely a page turner, but was I satisfied? Not sure. And not sure I can say I loved it.

Slow read, but the ending!! Wow!!

The book was cheesy but entertaining, guys dates the sister of his disappeared girlfriend. Not sure why I expected the ending to be any better but it was absolutely terrible. He didn’t recognize that they were the same person because she dyed her hair and slimmed down a bit?

I don’t want to spoil anything but the end of this book made me scream and want to thrown my book in the worst way. I’m so bummed! The rest of the book was great! I kept thinking- this! This is the kind of book I love to read. But as the end got closer and closer, my thoughts turned to, “no. Please no.” The first 90% is wonderful and suspenseful, full of red herrings and curvy roads. That ending, though. Ugh.

Got at airport. Quick weekend read, figured out before ending which is rare for me

I was expecting more from this book because I really enjoyed Behind Closed Doors. I still liked the writing style in the book, but I had a lot of issues with it. I feel like there was barely any plot until the very end of the book. It was just the main character questioning everything, but there was no action whatsoever. I also didn’t like any of the characters, and I felt the ending was a troupe that I am not a fan of and I was able to easily predict what would happen. I will continue to read this author, but this book was not it for me.

Well, this started off really good. The writing and suspense was really well done. I was in a book slump and it helped with that but it really went off the rails with the reveal. I kind of saw where things were heading around the half way point but I wanted to be wrong! I didn't guess it completely but still the ending is just bad compared to the rest of the book.
