This was really suspenseful. Every minute I wasn't reading it, I wanted to be. I'm sure some may find the truth of the mystery to be too far out there, but I liked this book. Definitely kept me turning the pages. Thanks to the author, NetGalley, and the publisher for a copy of the ARC.

Wow.

This book.

From the moment I started this book to the very end I was hooked. I loved the way the story started to slowly unravel and come together. We found out certain things regarding characters and it made me question what really happened that night. I had a few theories that were wrong put once I put the pieces together and saw I was correct, I had chills and goosebumps!!

“Yet there’s one thing that plagues me above all else, and it’s this: if I had truly loved Layla, surely I would have known her anywhere.”

That ending was not something else and left me shocked to my core. I have read “Behind Closed Doors” by this author which wasn’t a favorite but she redeemed herself with this book. I also listened to the book on audio and the narrator did an excellent job as well. Especially with the last few chapters of the book. I felt all the emotions!!

First of all, let me say I am a big fan of B.A. Paris and anticipate any of her new releases. With that being said, I was a little disappointed with Bring Me Back. I enjoyed both Behind Closed Doors and The Breakdown but did not see the same consistency here. I was very much into the story about 80% of the way and was pleasantly surprised by what the twist was, but found the last 20% to be a little far-reaching as the onion was being peeled and the twist was explained. There seemed to be a concept the author was going for but the unwinding fell a little flat for me. Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC. I look forward to more by B.A. Paris.

Super intriguing book, but the ending ruined it.

I highly recommend "Bring me Back" to fans of psychological thrillers and mysteries. The plot moves quickly and keeps the readers interest page after page. With thanks to netgalley.com, the author (B.A. Paris) and the publisher (St Martin's Press) to the advanced copy.

Young couple, Finn and Layla, are returning to England from a ski weekend in France when, at a roadside rest area, Layla disappears. Finn returns from the rest room and she is simply gone. Fast forward twelve years, and odd events bring her sudden disappearance to the forefront of Finn's mind, as he prepares to marry Ellen, Layla's older sister. The early pages of the novel alternate between chapters of "then" and "Now" to fill us in on the relationships Finn has with these women, and how it all starts to unravel. In the ending stages of the book, the chapters are all in the "now" but the narrator changes, letting us into Finn's mind as well as "Layla's" (won't say more, as the crux of the mystery is who has contacted Finn after all these years?). Well crafted and well told, this story leaves you guessing and turning pages to the very end.

Finn and Layla stop at a service station, and when Finn returns to the car, Layla is gone. Over a decade later, Layla has been declared legally dead, and Finn is now dating Layla's sister, Ellen. Except they start receiving messages from someone who could be Layla, and the secrets start to be revealed. Lots of twists and turns, I liked the ending but swear I've read at least two other books with the same 'twist'. I really like B.A. Paris, but would recommend 'Behind Closed Doors' over this book.

Content Warning: Domestic Violence, Child Abuse,

Entertaining. I read it all. It's like a bad movie I couldn't stop watching.

Finn is a douche. Why is the rich white boy with an anger problem that gets bailed out of everything the main protagonist? He's not clever or funny. He's not someone to sympathize with or care about. I can't even properly root against him, he's so unseasoned. Who fucking cares? Not me!

All the tug of war whining and conjecture was annoying. Especially coming from Finn.

It's not a unique twist. I did see it as a possibility but kept thinking no way because all the characters could be THAT dumb, right? Wrong. They were. And I'm insulted that Paris though I'd be *shocked* and *awed* by it.

It's so silly and unbelievable. As in not fucking possible. And that throwaway line trying to be deep at the end *eyeroll*

Haven't read B.A. Paris's previous work. Don't plan on reading anything else by her.

Spoiler Shit:
SpoilerKnew as soon as the "rigorous beauty regime" passage. It's so exact opposite, it's comical.
What about facial recognition? And her paperwork? And fingerprints?
Finn's whole "Russian doll saved me" is bullshit.
Wouldn't the acquittal from murder charges keep him from being prosecuted for manslaughter later via double jeopardy?
