I've read [b:Behind Closed Doors|29437949|Behind Closed Doors|B.A. Paris|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1458854462l/29437949._SY75_.jpg|45981530], so I am familiar with this author's writing style. I felt like this book was hit-and-miss with me. Some chapters intrigued me, and others were "meh." This is nothing terribly wrong with the book, but I just didn't always feel "the pull" to keep reading.

I can't see myself re-reading this. But I know there may be others who will find this book captivating because it doesn't leave you feeling overwhelmed with a myriad of emotions. It feels a little too watered down for me.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy to read and give my honest opinion.

Flummoxed.....that's exactly how I feel after reading this book. I did not see that ending nor did I even feel it was feasible. I mean really....we are supposed to guess what happened to Layla after she disappears one night but I would never have guessed that.

After 12 years, Layla has been missing and Finn is set to marry her sister Ellen. When these little mysterious Russian dolls start to appear. Something that Layla used to keep with her as a sort of Talisman. The closer Finn moves towards the wedding, the more crazy the behavior is. Finn keeps Layla's correspondence from Ellen until he is sure that she is truly alive. This is one of those morbidly shocking books that just make you keep reading because you just can't fathom what is truly going on.

The story line was easy to fall into but the plausibility of the ending is just too much. Without spoiling it for others I just can't put it into words why I don't believe the ending. I gave it three stars. Vivid and emotional but just a hard sell on the ending.

Apesar de não sentir o mesmo nível de sufoco em ler como no de estreia, Traz-me de Volta é, na verdade, um Thriller triste e de angústia deveras bem escrito. Ansioso por ler os restantes da autora, infelizmente em inglês.

Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris is a tension-filled page-turner.

Twelve years earlier, Finn McQuaid's girlfriend, Layla Gray, disappeared from a rest area while they were returning to England from a holiday in France.  Although initially a suspect in the perplexing case, he was eventually cleared of any wrongdoing.  Finn has moved on from the tragic loss but he is shaken when Detective (and friend) Tony Heddon calls with to tell him that Layla has been spotted by a former neighbor.  Unsure of what to think of this unexpected revelation, more perplexing news awaits Finn at home. His fiancée who is also Layla's sister, has discovered something that significantly points to the fact that Layla is alive. Not long after these two stunning events, Finn begins receiving emails that increasingly become more ominous over time.  Despite the menacing undertones of the emails and alarming deliveries, Finn's hopes are raised that Layla is, in fact, alive but what impact will this shocking realization have on his future with Ellen?

In a clever role reversal, Finn is cast as the proverbial character who is haplessly targeted by an unknown person. He is, at first, uncertain that the sighting and the deliveries have any link to Layla and he is off balance as he tries to make sense of what is happening. The first email he receives throws him into turmoil and he never really regains his balance as alternately veers wildly between believing Layla is alive and his certainty that someone else is behind the emails and vaguely sinister deliveries.

Caught in an endless circle of "is she or isn't she", Finn waits on tenterhooks after he is given a deadline from his mysterious correspondent.  Losing sleep and desperate for the truth, he is wildly erratic as he tries to parse the truth about who is behind what is happening and more importantly, what this person hopes to gain. His relationship with Ellen begins to falter as he becomes obsessed with the possibility of Layla's return and Finn is absolutely stunned when the situation takes a dangerous turn.

Bring Me Back is a clever mystery but it is a little repetitive which makes the pacing a bit slow.  The storyline is intriguing and features  a variety red herrings and misdirects. B.A. Paris ends the novel with a humdinger of a plot twist that incredulous readers will find extremely difficult to believe.  Despite requiring a suspension of disbelief to completely enjoy the "big reveal", this somewhat implausible mystery is an engaging read.

Layla disappeared 12 years ago while on a trip with her boyfriend Finn in France. He told the truth to the police, but no everything...
Now Finn has turned page, has proposed to her girlfirend, curiously Layla’s sister... And then they start receiving Russian Dolls... Has Layla returned or someone is messing with their minds?

This book has started as a non-stop reading, sadly I discovered everything too soon, so the book lost all the interest in the beginning... I was expecting a story full of twists and dark secrets, but it was too easy to discover what was really inside the Russian Dolls...
I think the main problem I had with the story is I didn’t like the main character Finn, how can he not go to the police if you are receiving messages from your disappeared girlfriend 12 years ago? If Finn didn’t kill her, he would want to know what really happened, am I wrong? And of course, not telling the truth to your fiancée is never a good thing...! Really, when they will learn that telling the truth is always better than hiding secrets?
That I discovered the plot too soon doesn’t mean the book was not interesting and well written, simply this book was not for me.
The reference to the Russian Dolls in this book is too real, when a truth is discovered there’s another secret hidden inside... so be prepared for a mystery inside a mystery book!
Ready to bring the past back?

Another great read from Paris. I was sure many times that I knew what was going to happen. She has a way of keeping you interested and reading until you're through and then you feel empty when it's over... wanting more. I hope for more from Paris soon.

I genuinely liked it but, overall, it frustrated me more than it entertained me. The twist was good but predictable. It was plain as day about a 1/3 of the way into the book. I hated how long it took to get to the actual climax of the story even though the book is less 300 pages... Love Paris but this just was not it.
