I am not normally one for self-help books, but I’ve recommended this book to several people in my life because I do think the author is good at getting those wheels turning and making the reader change perspective. I don’t think that this book is appropriately named. I think there’s a suggestion that this book will in fact help you figure out what you want out of life after reading, and it really isn’t like that. But this book will get you thinking. This book is dated for sure, and not all advice is great by todays standards or norms. However, I felt like there was a chapter in this book for anyone struggling to figure out who they are, what they want out of a career, and what they value. There are good tips for goal setting too. This book also felt somewhat like going to therapy to figure out how your upbringing can impact you in adulthood. A solid 3 stars for me.

I wish I bought this with my Kindle. the format is horribly flimsy and very unpleasant to handle. Makes the book seem very dubious.

update: it is. I feel like a toddler reading this. ugh

I found this book to be extremely helpful with acknowledging who I am as a person (scanner) and my self-sabotaging habits and how to correct this behaviour and learn to forgive myself and shut out others. A+.
informative slow-paced

Useful in the sense that I truly have no idea what I want, and it had some good imagination and workshop type prompts. I definitely saw myself in some of the categories lined out, but I'll be honest I skipped chapters that seemed irrelevant to me.

Recommended in How to Raise an Adult. Read selectively. The style grated on my nerves at first, but overall it led to some useful insights.
