I honestly really loved this book. It was so cute and I really enjoyed the writing and their story was pure and I just adore them. Liz could get on your nerves a bit because she was so oblivious in her own world but to be fair that was kind of the point. It did annoy me that she was mad at her best friend for being quick to judge but did the exact same thing but that’s just a personal character flaw. I did really appreciate how the author touched on grief and the different ways it can affect people and bring them together. I thought it was a perfect ending and am interested to see how the next book goes but like the idea of them breaking up since that feels so realistic in a way but also don’t want them to haha.

The best takeaway in my eyes was to stop setting up these expectations for life and the people you could meet and what you want because you could be closing yourself off from something real and worthwhile and unexpected. It’s easy to get lost in books and movies and such but there’s countless possibilities and movies/books still to be made of untold stories.

** upon further review, my level of obsession is bumping this up to 4.75. The knock off from a five is Liz making me “ugh” at times but I’d still consider it a favorite because no one’s perfect — and I will most definitely be reading a lot more of Lynn Painter’s writing!

A rom-com in book form. What's not to love? This transported me right back to high school.
