The Forester's Daughter is telling the story of an unhappy marriage full of regret, anger and dissapointment. Deegan and Martha married 20 years prior to this story, and never truly got to know each other. From the moment the wedding was over, Martha felt disconnected from Deegan, as if he stopped caring. Deegan was focused on his dream to retire early and buy back the family estate. They share 3 children together which they both seem to regret, except their youngest daughter Victoria, the clever one, loved extra much by her mother. One day Victoria gets a dog from her father, which happened to occur on her birthday, and Victoria felt loved by her father. However, Martha knows that this will end badly, and a we get to follow what will happen.

Claire Keegan is one of my favorite authors. She write stories like no one else. Even if this book only is 67 pages long, it sure tells a great story. It is not my favourite though, I would consider it the worst out of her books that I have read, but still a good story.
