The takeaway? "New bohemian" homes include a smattering of the following: brocade wallpaper, ikat prints, saturated Turkish rugs, suzani textiles, kilim rugs, velvet something, at least four different houseplant varietals and tribal art leaning effortlessly against some kind of weathered wooden surface. I love Blakeney's pins, and her book embodied her now-trademark style. It's not _my_ style, but it's laudable all the same.
This book is full of really gorgeous photos and it's given me tons of ideas for bohemizing my home!
I found myself looking at the pictures more than reading the book, but it’s always fun to see someone else’s design aesthetic....and to poach some of their ideas to put my own spin on! It definitely got my gears turning for some of my next craft projects!
Remodeling our house and thereby on a decorating book bender - this is my favorite of the bunch. It definitely lives up to the title, nothing fussy or terribly precious, everything well loved.
I love the ideas in this book. So many awesome decorating ideas!! Boho the way to go!
More of a coffee table book, but I got some fun ideas from it. Beautiful book.
I really appreciated that this was not just a re-hash of the author's blog. I loved the different homes pictured, and I don't think there was one home where I didn't find something I liked that I can use in my own home.
Originally, I didn't really expect that. I am not into the bold/bright/patterned look that I think of as 'bohemian', it seems chaotic and overwhelming to me. But upon reading I loved the range of styles shown, and how it re-classified bohemian style as 'whatever you love, and a lot of plants' which I definitely am into.
Which reminds me, I loved the plant-o-pedia section at the end, very useful and gave me a list to shop for (I'm the kind of crazy plant person that names my plants. Hey, some of them I've had for a decade! They're like family now!). I loved the attitude of it: there's no such thing as a brown thumb, just pay attention to your plant so you can give it what it needs.
