This book was recommended to me by a BookTok account. Available on Kindle Unlimited/Audible
The narrator's did a fantastic job with this book, I found myself disliking Ambers character a lot because of the shrill voice the voice actress would use whilst narrating her chapters. Jules' voice actress was amazing too, giving Jules a more professional and direct tone of voice despite her being very obviously unhinged.
I must say I had very high hopes for this book - at least a four star read however I found that the plot got a little bit lost in some areas and there wasn't really any closure for the characters. Therefore I'm left with more questions than answers. What happened to the boys who went missing? They seemed to be an important plot point until it was discovered that Billy has been lying about his potential abduction and then the whole plot line of the Dog Snatcher was not mentioned again.
It's clear to the reader that Jules is a very unreliable narrator and at some points it was like her withholding information to Dr Stevens was to form her own narrative. When all is revealed at the very end of the last chapter regarding her pregnancy, we discover that she and Isaac may not have even had any kind of relationship other than him being a sperm donor.
The adult/minor relationship in this was confusing as at times Jules would declare the relationship wasn't how it seemed and then proceed to talk about Isaac as if he were her boyfriend.
I feel like there are a lot of inconsistencies in this book and it could've been above a four star read for me if certain loose ends had been trimmed off to lead to the finale.
