There are lots of great experimental stories in this collection: a story told in the form of a play, one told in the form of poems, one broken down into themed sections that come together and make a whole picture, and lots others. I didn't like every single story, but the ones I did like, I loved.

I didn't feel like this pushed anything...except my patience. I don't think there was even one story that amazed me or even made me feel satisfied in any way as a reader. I thought the whole collection (with the exception of Eireann Corrigan's story) came off as "trying too hard."

Meh. That about sums it up. Take it or leave it? I would leave most of it. There are a few standouts, Ginger by Krovatin, Halfway by Booth and The Birds of Fleming Park by Waltman are excellent, but I am not impressed by the rest. I am reading a story a day and I have about 5 stories left, so things could get better...

...or stay the same. Overall, not a big fan of this collection.

Some books fill you with goodness and light. They make you long for love and a happily ever after. This is *not* that book. And especially I don't feel this is for Young Adult reading.
This is Push is an angst riddled anthology. The characters are grouchy. Nearly every story is searching for their next drug of choice...usually weed.
I tried to keep track of individual ratings for each story, however, after the 3rd 2star in a row and a few zeros I rounded the rating.
The story "Ginger" by Christopher Krovatin was probably the best in the group, however thinking back it might just have been that it just wasn't as bad as the rest.

A contributor, Markus Zusak, is one of my favorite authors and I picked This is Push up from my library just to read something by him.
PASS on this one friends.

This book was on my radar because Markus Zusak wrote one of the short stories. When I got the book, I considered just reading his story, but decided to give the rest of them a try. There were some that were pretty good and others that were just okay. It was worth it just to read something I haven't ready by Markus Zusak yet. I definitely read his story more than once.
