Cocktails and Books received this book for free from Inkslinger PR in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect our opinion of the book or the content of our review.I've enjoyed the Ascension series, but I had a hard time reconnecting with the characters in this entry into the series.  Cyrene was the hardest, especially because of her interest in random boys that show up in the books.  She loved Edric, kinda had a thing for Kael, was engaged to Dean, kinda still had a thing for Kael and then this book introduces another boy that Cyrene develops a relationship with before Dean comes back into the picture.  Her flip-flopping made it so I no longer vested in what was happening in the story.  I get it, this is YA.  But if this heroine is strong enough to lead an army against the Destroyer, then figure out whether you need the man you supposedly love at your side or if you're going to make eyes at every pretty boy that feigns interest in you.

Dragons should have been enough to let me skip over Cyrene's romantic entanglements, but even Sarielle couldn't save this story for me.

YES! So much yes. This book was by far the best of the series.

So this book is huge, like 600 pages huge. But do not be intimidated by that number because it absolutely does not feel like a 600 page book. I honestly didn't feel like the story was dragging. There was so much action and everything was pretty much none stop. Cyrene is out looking for the dragons to heal her friend and because duh dragons. I love Cyrene. I love her friends. And I really freaking love Dean.

This book was such a huge adventure. Everything was magical and all around lovely. And because it's K.A. Linde, there was one heck of a cliffhanger. But if you know her.. then you knew that was coming. So I will just be crying in a corner until the next one.

I received a copy of this book from the author.

Incredible, one of my favorite fantasy books in a long time. This series gets better and better with each book. I can’t wait to see how it ends although I’m absolutely terrified by what I’m going to be put through

Once again, my mind is blown with the words that K.A. Linde comes up with in this stellar series that she has created. Watching things unfold through the series and especially The Society, had my heart in my throat and dying to find out more! As this story and series as a whole flows, the character development is like none other that I have seen. The twists and turns that are given, leave you breathless! I wanted to yell and scream and cry all in one! Cyrene’s character alone is just wow. How she has changed and come into her own.
Overall, this book blew me away. I loved every moment as the story was fluid and kept you on your toes at every turn. While it is a lengthy book, it honestly does not feel like it. Linde’s attention to detail is like no other. She puts her all into the world she has created. I am so needing answers after that ending, but like the Night’s Watch, Now my watch begins! LOL! Pick up this series if you want something unique and one of a kind!
