Very dark - felt uncomfortable - plot twists - all together, really good. There were some gaps that I definitely wanted filled.

This was refreshingly dark like the title suggests. I really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the book up until the last 100 pages, debating between a rating of 3 or 4 based on the rushed disappointment the last portion of the novel brought. The ending was a bit absurd and made me dislike Ben's character even more. His character is deeply tarnished by harmful gender stereotypes, ultimately punishing himself for his impotency as a "man." I was sympathetic to this pain, but it was frustrating to read as he continued to make the wrong decisions. Libby Day as the flawed protagonist was enjoyable to read and was the redeeming light throughout the novel.

I don't know what goes on in Gillian Flynn's head but this lady has an intense talent of keeping you on your toes. She does an amazing job at creating page turner mysteries and developing deeply complexed characters. I love that her books showcase the same story from different vantage points because you never know how it's going to end up. I've read all her
books and can't wait for more!
