If I can give this 6 stars, I would.

Ruth Ozeki is my favorite author now.

I for one, found some of the narrator’s voices quite irritating. Annabelle’s was so high and flighty making her seem quite weak, which I don’t believe underneath her outward facing persona was. Also, the bottle man’s was a bit over the top. But in spite of that, I throughly enjoyed this story.

I liked Benny, I couldn't stand Annabelle - perhaps I was supposed to feel sorry for her but I didn't. I found her really infuriating (the narrator of the audiobook also did an annoying voice for her which didn't help). Benny, however, I was much more invested in, and I loved his journey. Plus, of course, The Book was an amazing character!

One of the best books I read this year. I’m still thinking about it a week later which is unusual because I mind dump books after reading them. Things that stood out: creative narrating, beautiful prose, sympathetic characters, and Buddhist themes.

This was incredible to listen to and I will buy my own copy...there are many passages I wish to revisit and reflect upon. So many succinct thoughts to absorb. Deeply inspiring.

Stunning, contemplative and original. Annabell is an angel :’)
