4.5 stars. One of my favorite quotes is from the poet Mary Oliver: "To pay attention, this is our endless and proper work." I feel like Katherine May and Oliver (and I!!!!!!!!!) would have made excellent friends. May has crafted a compelling and persuasive narrative on the importance of cultivating wonder. She veers away from preachy and instead grounds the book in her personal experiences (and shortcomings), a choice that has it read almost like a memoir of life in a "post-Covid" age.
I loved it and know I will be recommending it for many months to come.
