Loved it. If the stand-up comedy part of the plot didn't pull me in so fast, I would've still read this entire book just to see Isabel break up with her boyfriend. And it would be worth it.
In the end, this book turned out to be much more interesting than I expected. Also, Isabel's family situation and the need for everyone to like her all the time hit a little too close to home, but I love how it was handled.

another random read from my TBR list! This was my second audiobook and I had a better experience this time around. Might catch me doing more audiobooks this year!
Another YA story, which, again, aren’t my favorite. But I could relate/sympathize to some of it as somebody who was once a teenage girl with mommy issues hahah
Graphic: Toxic relationship
Moderate: Sexual harassment

I really enjoyed this YA coming of age story about a teen girl who stumbles into stand up comedy and ends up finding close friends and a medium that empowers and helps her find her voice. This book did such a good job of exploring toxic relationships and how hard it can be to end things with an emotionally abusive partner. Great on audio narrated by Sarah Mollo-Christensen (who also narrated Weather Girl) and perfect for fans of other stories featuring female stand up comics like Funny feelings by Tarah DeWitt or Perfect timing by Owen Nicholls.
