I have some very conflicted feelings about this book. I liked the interactions between the MCs. The steamy scenes were super-hot, and I enjoyed the pining. But there was just so much politics. There's so much the author even has an afterword flatly stating that the reader shouldn't complain about all the politics in this book. She recognizes that she got up on a soapbox, so it's not like it should be a surprise that some readers find it off-putting. And I agree with her stances, but when the word privilege is used more times than d!ck, there's something wrong with a romance. I wanted to love this book, and it had so much potential. But I read romance to escape the real world, not feel like I'm attending a march on Washington. Hopefully the next book in the series will have more focus on the characters and less on social justice.

Character Development: 4/5• Ashton and Marcus were dynamic and so well written. Finding each other even though outside factors didn't want them to be together. They fought against and brought out the best in each other.

Plot: 4/5 • The plot was engaging and well written. All the characters in this book felt real like they could be real characters in the real world.

Writing Style: 4/5 • The book was well written, with no grammatical or spelling errors. Things were explained in a way that didn't feel like overkill.

Spice Level: 3/5 • Ashton and Marcus leveled up every spicy interaction they had with each other. Filthy and so good.

Overall Rating: 5/5 • Ashton and Marcus. Sweet broken boys, that find their way back to each other. My heart was broken in the first chapter and I couldn't wait for them to start healing. The absolute adoration and love Ashton has for Marcus can be seen throughout and it's beautiful. Marcus didn't deserve the things that happened to him but instead of letting him become hardened, he grew from it. He kept being a beautiful person. I wasn't ready for this to end, but am so happy with how their story ended.

I enjoyed the journey this book took me on.
So much happend through this story, I was not prepared for all the twists and turns. I really liked that it wasn't just a story about Marcus and Ash but also about the drama about their family feud and secrets.

I really liked that the story didn't started with them meeting again in college and  recaps of their past. We get to met them as kids and trough out their teenage years to fully understand their characters and the things that happend to them and between them. Receiving the in depth backstory was perfect storytelling for this book.

I loved the story, the characters, their growth, chemistry and their relationship, the suspense and mistery of their families, the tension, the passion, the obsession and possessiveness between them.

Risking everything for the person you love can lead to the best life being lived. It was a pleasure to read this book and I'm excited to see the illustrated cover, the others in this series are already so good!
