This gave major "the village" vibes, which was actually the only "horror" movie I've enjoyed. My issue is Travis' visions or whatever. It seemed like it was supposed to be magical realism, not just a description of an attention to detail and the ability to picture scenarios in his head. It took me out of the story each time it came up.

I enjoyed reading this book, but there were definitely times were I felt like I just wanted to “fast forward” a bit. It has a great storyline with certain similarities to the movie The Village.

I’m going to tell it how it is without spoilers. The writing is good. The characters are a little flat, but you’ll find out why. The plot line is intriguing from the very beginning. Just when you feel like you’re going to fall off of the cliff of understanding the author will rescue you. This is all great.
The reason my rating fell to three stars is because of the HOW element as the story is resolved. It requires a suspension of disbelief greater than any I was willing to submit for a novel that had been otherwise so believably thrilling.
