I couldn’t look away from this book, it was like watching a horrific car crash, where you’re uncomfortable, but you have to keep looking. The book was incredibly well written, and I wasn’t sure who I was supposed to be cheering for the entire time. On the one hand, I didn’t want this woman’s life ruined, but on the other, she never seemed like a good person to me. It seemed like she was trying to make herself think she was a good person, but she definitely was not. I did like that it brought awareness to issues in the literary world. As a reader, I was not aware of how these things work behind the scenes and how even in this industry, people of color don’t always get the support they deserve. Fantastic read, highlyrecommend.

I know I’m crazy late to the party on this book but…wow. I honestly think TIME said it best with their review “Razor sharp.” Annoyed at myself for not getting to this book sooner tbh, no notes, one or the easiest 5 stars I’ve had in a while and I would go as far as to say this book is required reading.
